That is the dumbest thing... well definitely not an informed blather.
If the Brits hadn’t disarmed India 6 years earlier, Gandhi would have taken Enfields and organized his army and it would have been a blood bath.
There wasn’t really a choice in the strategy that Gandhi took.

“Mr. Obama said the America of today has its roots in the India of Mahatma Gandhi and the non-violent social action movement for Indian independence which he led.”
Bullsquat you uneducated, history-ignorant douchebag. America of today has its roots in the enlightenment and the incredible wisdom and sacrifice of its founding FATHERS. Our security, wealth and freedom is a result of WESTERN CULTURE, not eastern culture, which is based on the subjugation of the individual.

When I read about Mahatma Gandhi I understood most governments of the world would have just killed him. It was the fact that the British government was based on Christian ethics that he could fight them the way he did. And.. I really like is brand of rice.

Well, Ghandi’s non-violence worked against the British, who were exhausted as well as fundamentally decent. But people often forget that Ghandi’s objective was an independent, united, multicultural India. However at independence, his non-violence was scorned by the sub-continent’s Muslims, triggering an orgy of communal blood letting that ended in countless deaths, mass population dislocations, and an India partitioned between a majority Muslim Pakistan and a majority Hindu India. Faced with Islamic fanaticism, Ghandi’s pacificism failed. I hope Obama remembers this as he sits down with the Iranians.

We must renew our commitment to live up to his ideals and to celebrate the dignity of all human beings.
Prove it, Talkboy.
Disarm the IRS.
Let them ask nicely, and if their requests go unfulfilled, let them walk away peacefully.

Mr. Obama said the America of today has its roots in the India of Mahatma Gandhi..." Huh?!?!?!
He misread the teleprompter. He was supposed to say
"America of today has its support calls routed through the India of Mahatma Gandhi..."

Gandhi in military uniform (Zulu war), during his 'mercenary' period in Africa.

I use to admire Ghandi, until I found out he was a nut case...he thought that the jews should have marched into the concentration camps voluntarily and other such non-sense.
Ahh... then Obama thinks the Tea Party Patriots are great!

I’m impressed with Gandhi too, but is there a single patriotic American in all of our history whom Obama can say something positive about? All I hear from the Community-Organizer-in-Chief is praise for foreigners and criticism for Americans.

With the economy in the sh*tter, passivity just isn’t going to cut it - although it’s understandable that an impotent and clueless Chief Executive would plead for passivity from a moneyless and jobless citizenry - considering he’s too inept and stupid to fix anything.
