Milton Friedman puts forward a compelling case for the legalization of drugs
I’m not a libertarian, but I am a Republican. I hate the health crap going on. The drug thing has nothing to do with it. That, for me, is not an option to disregard. Getting high is not the same league, and it’s embarrassing to count it in the same leagues as health care or gun rights.
no they can not. They do not have free will.
if you use them on you.
now you are getting it
Right, and the illegal drugs aren’t used to just sit around, which I said how many posts above? Are you playing stupid on purpose?
I hate this game with the drug users that you have to point ou that yes, drugs are to be used to get high.
When they compare powder/whatever of drugs to guns, it boils down to that. Sad state of affairs.
There you go again with the Saul Alinsky switch
Drugs dont jump in to your body on their own. Yes the type of drugs we are talking about are almost always(not always) used to get high or make a profit.
But it is still an object and that was the issue we started this with that drugs will not go away no matter how much you want them to they are now part of our society. Laws can only slow down their use at a great cost to the rest of societys liberties.
I am sorry but your daughter was a victim of our societys freedom. She made a bad choice, we should have the right to be stupid and that is my arguement.
I can’t follow your arguments, you’re talking about a ‘she’ and before you were talking about drugs being the same a metal objects, even though the purposes are entirely differences.
I think you may need to sober up and rethink this stuff, and you oh-so-smart points may fade. Your right to be stupid is noted, however. Very, very much noted.
No I saw your {;^) and was just playing along. No problem.
Choices have consequences. It is the individuals responsibility to deal with those consequence for better or for worse.
If the majority gets to decide what is best for you, you live under they tyranny of the majority, whatever their current whim is. Tomorrow the great sin could well be French fries...
I believe we agree.
Well I’m not stupid or a druggie and I follow his logic.
Too bad you apparently can’t.
I really can’t, but “we should have the right to be stupid and that is my arguement” is about the best pro-drug I’ve ever ever seen. It sums it up so completely, honestly, and entirely that I wish all pro druggies would admit to it.
It’s hard to type out how impressed I am with someone that admits finally how stupid the pro-drug side is. And he’s proud of it. This has nothing to do with the 1st/2nd/any other issues at all. It is about the right to be a stupid addict.
There will always be money in it because they want to sell meth to your kids and any other user who doesn’t have government approval to use drugs.
Some people think it is stupid to drink carbonated sugar water. Some people think you should be penalized for making that “stupid” choice.
Some people think it is stupid to eat a greasy hamburger. Some people think you should be penalized for making that “stupid” choice.
Some people think it is stupid to own a gun. Some people think you should be penalized for making that “stupid” choice.
Some people think it is stupid not to recognize man made global warming is destroying the planet. Some people think you should be penalized for denying it, for making such a “stupid” choice.
Some people think it is stupid not to recognize Obama’s genius. Some people think you should be penalized for making that “stupid” conclusion.
One man's stupid is another man's genius and visa versa.
It is best not to let others decide what is or is not a “stupid” choice for you. Because once you give them the authority to, there is no limit to what they will decide for you. From health care to setting your air conditioner too low and how much water your toilet uses to flush.
False, naturally. Sourceless, naturally. And a smear against George Washington.
Ignorance bolstered by dishonesty.
You inevitably revert to your entitlement argument. It's never a question of if, only of when.
If society choses to tolerate legalized alcohol, that creates NO obligation for it to tolerate dope as well.
You’ve summed it up by being proud of being stupid. Frankly, you aren’t making any kind of argument that it’s a good thing to be stupid in general. Use all your drugs, and be what you’re supporting.
How many people do you know that make their own household chemicals, shampoo, toothpaste, etc?
Why not?
No money in it.
The only realistic reason for a possible meth house next door is to avoid the law. When the law is out of it there's no money in it.
Here's the critical point.
Do you take mind altering drugs?
Why not?
Does the law really have anything to do with it? Or are you saying you would poison yourself it weren't for the law?
Is it your position that you know better but others do not know better. Therefore it is incumbent on you to impose what you “know better” about on others that are too foolish to take care of themselves by force of law? Do you understand that is how the nanny state comes about. Obama thinks he knows better than the rest of us what is best for us so he's hell bent on applying that gift of his knowledge on the rest of us that “don't know better”.
You you just obtuse or what?
Also, none of your ‘point’s prove that it’s right or wrong. Being ‘stupid’ in general is only cool in the rap subculture.
There are dumb choices sure, and some of them are deadly. Sometimes people need to be protected from idiocy. Why do you think DUI laws are in place even when people aren’t in a wreck? Why do you think domestic violence laws are in place when neither side wants to press charges?
If you want to pretend being an idiot with illegal drugs is some sort of virtue and heroic act, be my guest. It’s a sad, sad statement however.
‘You you just obtuse or what?’
Sober up, you can’t even type much hardly.
You can't be that dim.
Nowhere did I even remotely suggest being stupid was cool or otherwise some positive thing.
Nowhere did I even remotely suggest that “being an idiot with illegal drugs” was some sort of virtue.
What I said was that what some people demand is stupid other see as something less than stupid and visa versa.
Nowhere did you address what I actually said.
So I won't waste anymore time with you.
Dude, I don’t do drugs and I very rarely drink any alcohol. And that includes at least the last month on the alcohol...
Your writing is bordering on incoherent and you have the nerve to say I need to sober up...
Goodbye.
