A top civil rights leader called Democratic controller nominee John Liu "the little Asian boy" who's been "running around" with the NAACP for years, as Liu poked a bit of fun at his own heritage on Saturday.
Speaking before the Rev. Al Sharpton's birthday party, Hazel Dukes noted that Liu - elected the city's first Asian-American councilman in 2001 - was on hand for the festivities.
"I see John Liu here - he's been the little Asian boy running around with us a long time [in] the NAACP," Dukes, president of the NAACP New York State Conference, warmly said to laughter during Sharpton's weekly radio broadcast. "But Rev. [Sharpton], he was a good guy, so we said, 'Come on, come on, come on - we can make you what you want to be,'" Dukes continued to more chuckles and applause as Liu, 42, sat on the stage with a bemused smile.

Finally, her return as president of the New York City Branch of the NAACP in 1999 was overshadowed by accusations of foul play in the election.
Despite these troubles, many still look to Dukes as an important figure in New York's black community.

I remember when the black power movement started trying to drag in Asians and Hispanics. Asians were briefly associated (for example, BALLSA, Black Asian Latino Law Students Association) but bailed; all but professional Hispanics in the poverty industry also bailed on them soon afterwards, because the higher achievements of the Asians and even the non-native-English speaking Hispanics, who at least wanted to work, were simply being used to cover up the ineptitude of the professional-black-person core constituency. That is, they had made their color a profession.
We got some of them at a law firm that I worked at but they could never pass the bar exam and eventually they had to be let go, an ugly moment. The weird thing was that they had a lot of power, and even then, we wouldn’t interview anybody known to be black who wasn’t a member of this group.
I remember one time a really deserving black candidate interviewed and people were blown away by her...but she wasn’t selected because she wasn’t a member of these black power groups and nobody even knew she was black until she appeared for the interview. Clearly, since she wasn’t tied in with the power players, she wouldn’t do us any good, and they gave the slot instead to some jerk who was a big Harvard BALSA guy and did nothing but make passes at the women attorneys and hang out on the phone planning pressure group tactics with his BALSA buddies. Needless to say, he was never able to pass the Bar Exam, regardless of the number of Bar BRIs we paid for.
I think one of the biggest problems Hispanics have had in this country is that, as a group, they were swept into the black grievance project and have never been able to get out and simply be what they are, which is immigrants...whose second generation is fully adapted and whose third generation is indistinguishable, for better or for worse, from other Americans. They have been made part of the black Democrat separatist project.

Just like white liberals, they are racists projecting their own sick racism. They are beneath contempt. To make it even worse, America is filled with guilt ridden whites who would do almost anything to avoid being CALLED racist.
Just think, all they had to do was prove that they are not. Voting for Barack Obama was an opportunity to once and for all demonstrate that American white people are not all racist. I can only hope that a lesson was learned here. It is absolutely moronic to be intimidated that way, when the left will never stop calling conservative, or even moderate Republicans racist.
Why should they? It is a tactic that works. To those guilt ridden whites I want them to take a bow. They helped elect our first third world, Marxiat president. And the enemy will still call them racist.
