Patrick Corvington
With a working knowledge of and personal alignment with the Casey Foundation mission to effectively meet the needs of vulnerable families and children, Patrick Corvington began the position of Senior Associate in the Leadership Development Unit in late May 2005. His background with community-based organizations underscores an understanding of and commitment to helping mission-critical grantees build their capacities around executive transition and leadership development. While Mr. Corvington works to operationalize a plan for executive transition and other capacity-building efforts within grantee organizations, he is also shaping and implementing plans to assist non-profits create a diverse and talented pipeline of new leaders, especially those of color.

A history of on-the-ground direct services to underserved individuals and migrant families as well as managing projects from conception to implementation has equipped Mr. Corvington with a wealth of skills and experiences ideally suited to his position. Just prior to joining the Foundation, he was Executive Director of Innovation Network, a nonprofit agency whose mission is to build the evaluation capacity of the nonprofit sector. Mr. Corvington has also served as a Research Associate with the Metropolitan Housing and Communities Center at The Urban Institute where he conducted housing policy research and worked to build the capacity of nonprofit organizations in Russia. Other roles have included Coordinator of Multicultural Affairs at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County; and Interim Director at the Sykesville Group Shelter Home for adjudicated youth. He also has worked as a patient advocate in a community-based HIV/AIDS clinic; traveled the east coast migrant stream as a case manager for migrant workers; and volunteered his time living and working in the infirmary of a shelter for homeless persons.

A native of Haiti, Mr. Corvington is fluent in French and French Creole, and is conversant in Spanish. He received his BA in Sociology from the University of Maryland, College Park, and earned his MA in Public Policy from Johns Hopkins University, where he received the National Minority Leadership Fellowship from the Kellogg Foundation. Mr. Corvington has been an Echoing Green selection judge twice.
