The high-fructose corn syrup in Coke (and other soft drinks) didn’t help.

Didn't hurt either. HFCS and sucrose offer the same number of calories. Unless you think glucose and fructose from HFCS is different than glucose and fructose from sucrose.

HFCS interferes with the hormones that make you feel full and the ones that make you feel hungry.

The introduction of this synthetic government subsidized molecule into our food tracks perfectly on a chart with the rise in obesity.

HFCS has a higher level of fructose, and has been shown to increase triglyceride levels.
