While I applaud your efforts, you must be a better patriot than me. I can’t give up football.
I have been a sports fan for years; however, I gave up baseball during strikes and the fact that the games are boring (time between pitches, throws to first, etc.). I gave up basketball since the games are all played in the last 2 minutes by thugs. Football will be harder but I am prepared to give it up. Maybe I will spend more time at church and on the internet where my time is productive.
When entertainers try to influence politics and I go to their movies, or performances, I am in effect making a campaign contribution since the only reason they have a public voice is because they are famous and they are only famous because they have an audience. If they have no audience they will have no money to throw around and no “voice” either. This seems to be about the last bit of power we have, to shrug at these people. They can’t (yet) make us buy tickets.
I am composing a letter to Roger Goodell (to be copied to networks and advertisers) telling him that I’m done with the NFL as well unless he apologizes personally and publically to Limbaugh.
NFL practices reverse racism and screws taxpayers to build stadiums. I can think of 10 million things I would rather do than watch an NBA, NFL, college football or any other game. Turn it off people.
