“Federal Agents Raid Goat Meat Plant
Authorities Confirm Raid, No One Taken Into Custody”
KINSMAN, Ill. (CBS)

SNIPPET: “George Jackson III is an attorney hired by one of the plant operators, Dr. Syed Hamid. Jackson and Dr. Hamid spoke briefly while on their way to a meeting with the federal prosecutor Monday.

Jackson says it’s too early to say why there was such a huge show of force at the plant.”

SNIPPET: “Jackson said federal agents confiscated the company’s computers, effectively shutting down the business. Dr. Hamid chose not to weigh in Monday.

“I don’t want to comment at this point,” Dr. Hamid said.

Sources tell CBS 2 there are only six employees at the plant. An FBI spokesman would not confirm that but does say that no one has been charged. “

SNIPPET: “Illinois records show that the president of the plant is Tahawar Rana, who also owns another company that sells Halal food, prepared according to Muslim dietary laws. He also is listed as the director of the Canadian-based Macro Traders firm, an export and import agency.”

* The name of the plant in the Grundy County town of Kinsman, IL is “First World Management”

* The owner’s residence which was also raided is in Chicago in the 6000 block of North Campbell Avenue.

* At least two other Chicago locations were also raided.

“2nd Chicago man tied to terror plot
Man taken into custody at O’Hare was allegedly to meet with people linked to terrorist organizations”

SNIPPET: “The FBI this month arrested a second Chicago man allegedly involved in an international terrorist plot with Western European targets, the Tribune has learned.

The man was taken into custody Oct. 3 before he boarded a flight at O’Hare International Airport to Philadelphia, the first stop on a trip to Pakistan, where he planned to meet people with known ties to terrorist organizations that have carried out fatal attacks that resulted in the deaths of U.S. citizens, a source said. He has not been charged.”

SNIPPET: “The owner of the plant, Tahawar Hussain Rana, also of Chicago, was arrested at his North Side home the same day as the raid on First World Management Services in Kinsman, northwest of Dwight. Agents seized records from the plant, as well as a related North Side business also raided the same day, said the source, who is familiar with the investigation.

Rana financially supported the man involved in the terrorist plot, as well as the man’s family, the source said. The man was on Rana’s payroll but did little if any legitimate work, the source said.”
