Interior Secretary Ken Salazar asked the Interior Department's inspector general Tuesday to investigate a controversial, last-minute move by the Bush administration to lock in favorable royalty rates and lenient environmental regulations for a series of oil shale leases on federal land in Colorado and Utah.
The investigation represents a significant expansion of the department's probe of Bush-era oil shale policy -- and the oil industry's role in shaping it.
Investigators are expected to examine whether Interior officials followed department protocol when pushing through an unusual set of lease amendments, and whether those officials bowed to pressure from industry or other outside groups.
Salazar said the investigation could result in a "range of options" including leaving the amendments in place or canceling them.
"There are serious questions about whether those lease addenda are in fact legal," he said in a conference call with reporters, "and in fact whether or not they should be rescinded."

“and in fact whether they should be rescinded”
That’s obamanations standard answer to everything that has gone before him like the Constitution and the rights contained in that document.
Exactly.
What would become of the Department of Candles?
I have come to despise these self-serving pr**ks. I hate that I now hate. I tried not to...
Lots and lots of money is being wasted on Wind and Solar non-power. This will drive the cost and price of electricity, fuel, gas, etc, beyond affordable levels very quickly. the same goes for refineries.
They know this. This has been their plan all along. They believe that it will change public behavior for what they see as “correct” behavior.
They believe that it will deprive the middle class of its middleclassness and of any extra money and time that that anti progressive class of Enemies of the People could use to effectively oppose the People’s Program.
“...examine whether Interior officials followed department protocol...”
So, protocal can not be compromised, but the U.S. Constitution is ignored altogether.
“the Constitution and the rights contained in that document”. Rescinded.
“What would become of the Department of Candles?”
Joins the Department of Whale Oil in exile...
The people wanted Democrats to rin the Legislative and the executive branches of government, this is what they get.

That’s because the Liberals in charge will have to let the ice melt to save money for Social programs. But they can still play on roller blades you know. There will be no excuses for Dear Leader.
Can’t drill, can’t install solar (too ugly), can’t build windmills (might kill a crow), can’t build dams, can’t install pipelines, can’t, can’t, can’t, can’t.
And the Saudis want us to help them out with aid when they run dry. If liberals are in control it will happen.
