Breaking-Sen Burr will vote YES on cloture re S. 1776! Call him, 202-224-3154, to vote NO!

Posted on 10/21/2009 8:30:00 AM PDT by disraeligears

Just called Burr's office; Sen. Burr intends to vote YES cloture re S. 1776. The bill's passage will help hide the total cost for Obamacare. Yesterday his office stated that would be voting against cloture. This is a big turnaround. Call Sen. Richard Burr (NC) at 202-224-3154 and tell him to vote NO on cloture.

Also called Sen. Kyl's office. He is not committed at this point on whether to vote yes or no on cloture. Call Kyl at 202-224-4521 and tell him to vote NO on cloture.

Both of these senators deeply oppose this bill. So what’s up with their positions on cloture?

They must think Harry doesn’t have enough votes to pass the thing, but this is a big gamble on their part. Stupidity reigns in the Senate.

Burr’s office said that S. 1776 bill had nothing to do with Obamacare, but Burr’s staffer is just plain wrong! The Baucus Bill relies on lower reimbursements to doctors under Medicaire to get to 800 billion over ten years; but S. 1776 increases reimbursements by over 200 billion plus over ten years. Therefore, the overall true cost of the Baucus bill is over a trillion for 10 years.

This is a budgetary shell game and Burr knows better!

Tried to call the number you gave in your thread. BUSY.
Three times I tried - busy. So I got through to the 800 number in WS and the lady tallied me down for a big NO. She said she could not take my name because they were getting so many calls. She hung up without waiting for me to say anything further.

don't waste your time. They do what ever they want. Votes are bought and paid for where necessary. The notion that they represent their constituents is naive

It is not a waste of time to call... politicians will respond if their phone lines are flooded!!!

Remember when they tried to pass the so-called “immigration reform” and the phones rang off the hook!

Just called, and they told me the Senator does not have a position on S 1776 and that he would release a statement this week. The vote is scheduled for “sometime this week.”

Not that Burr is anything to write home about, but I think this is most likely misinformation from a confused staffer.

Just in from Freedom Works VP for Policy Max Pappas:

“The Senate is going to vote cloture on S.1776 this afternoon around 2 pm.

Today’s cloture vote is key–if they get this through, they will have come through in buying off the doctors and will keep lying about the overhaul reducing the deficit.”

Here is the target list from Erick Erickson:

Here are the big targets today. I’ll add to it as field reports come in from activists:

Bob Bennett (UT) at 202-224-5444

Richard Burr (NC) at 202-224-3154

Jon Kyl (AZ) at 202-224-4521

IF YOUR SENATOR IS NOT ON THIS LIST CLICK HERE

Tell each one to oppose cloture on S. 1776. Supporting cloture is an endorsement of the Democrats’ strategy to pass Obamacare and will seriously increase the deficit

The staffer was very specific and said that Burr was going to vote yes on cloture, that S. 1776 had nothing to do with Obamacare, and then pointedly said that Docs needed to get paid for providing care to Medicare patients.

The staffer appeared to be well-informed re Burr’s intentions and the reason why Burr was voting for cloture and presumably for the bill.

We need to flood Burr’s offices with calls!!!

They should increase reimbursements for medicare because that’s a big problem with medicine, but at the same time, this is being done separate to hide the true cost of the bill.

Burr is in my district and where did this cloture come out of nowhere?

Burr would not do this, I agree. Before I call I need more facts.

I would vote for the bill myself. It’s needed badly.

But, something needs done to make sure the Dems can’t claim the overhaul will cost 800 billion bucks since this was not included in that estimate.

That said, I would vote yes on cloture because this bill needs passed.
