I think Obama’s problem is that he really doesn’t know how to be nice to peons. And he considers news reporters to be peons.

Bill clinton got four or five reporters fired from their jobs for daring to question him. Basically he threatened to sic the regulators and the IRS on their corporations unless they fired the offenders. And they did.

Clinton also bombed the TV station in Belgrade and killed a number of Serbs who were working there. Not a peep out of the mainstream press for this attack on their colleagues, who had offered them generous hospitality.

I think the difference is that clinton offered the press all sorts of favors for cooperating with him, as well as punishing those who didn’t. Obama only resorts to punishment. Clinton invited them to all his fun parties. Obama tells them they aren’t welcome, so keep out.

Maybe this is driving them together even though they are on very different political wavelengths.

I understand that the press has been grumbling for quite awhile at how they’re treated and the very structured press events allowing no questions not pre-arranged etc. So for them to stand up to the administration in protest was hopefully a first step to challenge the thugs. It was good to see but there needs to be more revolt. If they all stand up to the thugs, they’ll crumble. Bullies always do.
