Scozzafava Feeling the Heat in NY-23
Townhall.com ^ | October 23, 2009 | Jillian Bandes

At least a dozen conservative organizations have called for the resignation of Republican candidate Dede Scozzafava in the scorching New York-23 Congressional race, throwing the contest further into the national spotlight and solidifying it as a key litmus test for a Republican Party on the rebound.

The coordinated attack came on the heels of a curveball thrown by Dede Scozzafava herself, after she called the cops on Weekly Standard reporter John McCormack when he repeatedly asked her about her stance on pro-union card check legislation. Scozzafaza has supported card check in addition to the Obama stimulus package, same-sex marriage, cap-and-trade, and abortion rights.

“To call Scozzafava a RINO is an insult to RINOs,” wrote Matthew Cunningham of Red County in a post titled “The NRCC Should Drop-Kick Scozzafava.”

The National Republican Campaign Committee (NRCC) and the Republican National Committee have given cash to Scozzafava and both organizations reiterated their support for the candidate despite widespread conservative outcry.

“The NRCC supports the Republican candidates in the general election. That’s our policy in the past and that’s our policy moving forward,” said John Randall, spokesman for the NRCC.

"This race is a priority, and we continue to support the Republican candidate,” said Gail Gitcho, RNC press secretary.

The Washington Examiner’s editorial board expressed a common reaction to these affirmations.

“Donors to the RNC and the NRCC…should demand their money back,” they wrote.

Conservative critics pointed to the similarities between Scozzafava and Democratic candidate Bill Owens, which is why Conservative party candidate Doug Hoffman has made significant inroads in the race. Just yesterday, Hoffman was endorsed by Ken Blackwell, Rep. Michelle Bachman, and former Majority Leader Dick Armey.

McCormack, the Weekly Standard reporter that dealt with the cops after questioning Scozzafava, said the entire race represents an embarrassment to the Republican Party.

“Every dollar the NRCC and RNC spend on her is a dollar they could be spending in 2010 on competitive races,” he said. “And in the exceedingly unlikely even that Scozzafava wins the election, the Republican party would still lose by continuing to be associated with a dishonest politician who calls the police on a reporter for simply asking questions.”

Not every conservative was so critical of Scozzafava.

"I would say to every Republican: you have a chance to elect somebody who has signed the no tax pledge; she's endorsed by the National Rifle Association; she is opposed to cap and trade and energy taxes; she is opposed to the Obama health plan; and, she will vote against Nancy Pelosi as Speaker,” said Newt Gingrich on TWT Radio. “That is a pretty good starting point - even if she is more liberal than I am and on other issues I disagree with her completely."

Endorsed by the NRA, there is a ringing endorsement, I haven’t agreed with a great many of theirs, for years.

So, here is the list of Dede's qualification: She has signed the no tax pledge; has been endorsed by the Na tional Rifle Association; is opposed to cap and trade and energy taxes; is opposed to the Obama health plan; and, she will vote against Nancy Pelosi as Speaker.

So, people should vote for her because of what she said she intend to do, not because of the achievement or the record she has. Somehow, a Nobel Prize in Peace comes to my mind.

Ok Newt. Newt is a history buff, right? Why doesn't he read this?

**********
The following is the wording of the statement that Neville Chamberlain waved when he stepped off the plane after the conference in Berlin had ended on 30 September, 1938.

“We, the German Führer and Chancellor, and the British Prime Minister, have had a further meeting today and are agreed in recognizing that the question of Anglo-German relations is of the first importance for two countries and for Europe.

“We regard the agreement signed last night and the Anglo-German Naval Agreement as symbolic of the desire of our two peoples never to go to war with one another again.

“We are resolved that the method of consultation shall be the method adopted to deal with any other questions that may concern our two countries, and we are determined to continue our efforts to remove possible sources of difference, and thus to contribute to assure the peace of Europe.”

Chamberlain read this statement to a cheering crowd in front of 10 Downing St. and said;

“My good friends this is the second time in our history that there has come back from Germany to Downing Street peace with honor. I believe it is peace in our time.”

Here we have a woman, with a history of lying, who only this week, lied about her encounter with the Weekly Standard reporter, saying anything you want to hear, just to get elected, and Newt thinks it's Gospel? How totally naive can you get, Newt? A sucker is born every minute.

I went to her site at the NY state house. She is a process politician. Very boring. Her statements from her offices are childlike, but dutiful. I’d say she is a-historical, has minimal education in economics or political philosophy. She could be described as a Republican hack, industriously hanging on in a backwater district. I could see why she called the cops on the Weekly Standard reporter. Being asked a few run of the mill questions, which induced little used neurons in her brain to faintly fire off, and thus inducing unfamiliar sensations of thought, scared the living daylights out of her. Poor thing. And all she wants to do, really, is waddle up the political gravy trough. In a way, she is sadly pathetic.

I’m not sure if she lied. That would require to KNOW you are saying an untruth. My take? She’s a dumb as a stump and literally panicked, was fearful, when asked some boilerplate questions. I don’t think she remembers accurately what happened and is processing it like a car crash victim, which in a mental way she was because at the moment she mentally went blue screen.

No wonder the GOP want her. Talk about leading her around by the hand. She’d give the ‘leadership’, nor anyone else, no trouble at all.

Zero in on this one, my fellow conservies, LIKE A LASER BEAM.

TEACH....THE.....RNC (And its hopelessly RINO/Country Club/Rockefeller Wing-infected institutionalized leadership).....A.....DAMN.....GOOD.....PAINFUL.....LESSON....

They STILL dont "get it." We are royally p*ssed off almost to a man and woman and dog here across our great land about the loss of our Republic as we speak, and we want CONSERVATIVES on Capitol Hill, and not do-nothing or go-along RINOS and LIBS! Put one in there now in the form of one Mr. Doug Hoffman, and tell the RNC to shove it where the sun tends not to shine, for good measure.

The gentle-lady would perhaps be well-advised to actually withdraw from the race and get out of the way. SHE is the obstructionist. Pour money into that race and that district, my dear Freepers, and make history!!!

Against the backdrop of our country rapidly approaching all semblances to the Weimer Republic, methinks the spine and backbone of this sad individual must necessarily be composed and comprised primarily of a combination of Quaker Oats and tofu:

"WASHINGTON, DC

The National Republican Congressional Committee tweeted a link to a "funny video" Tuesday featuring Hitler images and text about US. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

The NRCC quickly took the video down, The Hill reported.

"We saw the video this morning and thought, like other parodies, that it was funny," NRCC spokesman John Randall told Politico. "In 20-20 hindsight, we realized it was in poor taste and pulled it down ... . I don't want anyone to think we're comparing Democrats to Nazis and to Hitler.

The National Jewish Democratic Committee -- an organization of Jewish Democrats based in Washington -- said the use of Nazi images against the Democrats has hit "epidemic proportions."

"The GOP and conservatives' use of Holocaust rhetoric has reached and unprecedented levels. It has to stop," NJDC President David Harris told The Hill. "It's profoundly offensive to many many people."

I gotta say I think Newt is wayyy off on this one. Scozzafaava is not a moderate, no matter how hard he tries to sell the case. A pledge against raising taxes pales in comparison to supporting Card Check, and so on.

Newt has to get his “facts” straight here: The quote right above his at the top of this same article says that the DC-annointed-liberal-liar-in-waiting IS supporting the democrat's (er, socialists’) cap-and-trade tax increase!

I'm not sure but I imagine the same could be said for Hoffman. That's a pretty good starting point, too, Newt.

Sometimes I think these politicians live in a different universe. I saw Newt on O’ Reilly the other night and the subject of the Rasmussen Daily Presidential Poll came up and Newt said “I only recently became aware of this poll”. Where has he been?

“The NRCC supports the Republican candidates in the general election. That’s our policy in the past and that’s our policy moving forward”

If I call myself a man, but have no man parts..does that make me a man? Nope- so following that simple, child like logic, perhaps the NRCC can look for a Republican candidate to support.

Any conservative, or person who calls himself a conservative, who continues to donate to the RNC, NRCC, NRSC after reading this is a fool. They continue to demonstrate that they are inside the beltway operatives that care nothing for the rest of us. One can donate directly to every campaign without going thru those shill organizations.
