...news of the visit had been received with reserved astonishment.Reserved astonishment? Is that like mild panic?
I believe author Patrick McManus (Field & Stream) refers to it as the "modified stationary panic".
Cheers!

I just wish Obama would engage the “full bore linear panic”!
I love Patrick McManus’ humor!
That “Getting Lost” article is one of my favorites. You need to get his three volume set of articles (”They Shoot Canoes, Don’t They?” is my favorite)

I was envisioning the 'deer in the headlights' look on Zero's face when someone broke the news...

Folk dancing & Austrian drinking songs ...... so that's what's been going on in the Oval office ... I knew it wasn't simple incompetence!

I believe author Patrick McManus (Field & Stream) refers to it as the "modified stationary panic". McManus is the BEST writer to get a kid interested in reading. His books of short stories are the funniest lines ever put on paper. My kid and I allude to his anecdotes when describing our own sportsman type activities. I'd love to meet Mr. McManus someday.
