Homeland Security: A suspect Islamist group is gloating that a cash settlement in the so-called Flying Imams case is a "victory for civil rights." If it's a victory, it's one for future hijackers.
Three years ago, six Islamic clerics sued US Airways and Minneapolis airport police for discrimination and false arrest after they were bounced from a Phoenix-bound flight for behaving much like the 9/11 hijackers.
Some yelled "Allah, Allah, Allah," and changed their seats while asking for seat belt extensions they never used. Though situated throughout the cabin, the six men appeared to be acting in concert. Witnesses also said they loudly cursed the U.S.
Also raising flags, half of them had no checked baggage and what appeared to be one-way tickets.
The imams didn't seem to have a case until that is, they got liberal federal judge Ann Montgomery to hear it. A Clinton appointee, she denied the defendants' request for dismissal.
And her ruling, strongly worded in favor of the plaintiffs, made it clear law enforcement wasn't immune from being sued. Convinced they wouldn't succeed at trial, the defendants settled.

Only in America can this happen. We are the fall of the Roman empire 2009.
I hope Judge Montgomery has to take a flight with a some Jihadi's one day. We'll see how she likes it when legal theory runs smack up against reality. The Flying Imams were a setup from the word go. They deserved to get their @sses kicked by everybody else on the flight.
The irony: that's the same airport, where outsite the Somali taxi drivers will not pick up folks carrying wine, or those with seeing-eye dogs...!!
Ann Montgomery
Well Done! (Even if you are enjoying your stay in a comfortable bunker at an undisclosed location.)
Maybe if Judge Montgomery was on the 103rd floor of the WTC North Tower on 9/11, like my friend was, she would have a different perspective on this case!
At least we know who Ann Montgomery really works for.
This whole country is turning upside down.
Sometime just after 9/11 and before I retired as a Captain on the B-767 for a major airline, one of my fellow Captains (who was born in Ceylon, was VERY dark-skinned and “Middle Eastern” looking, and had an accent) was briefing the flight attendants before the flight. “If you see anything that looks funny to you, tell me, and we’ll throw ‘em off the plane. I’ll take the heat for it.” “What do you mean, Captain?” said one of them. “You know, somebody that looks or talks like me” he said, joking. She reported him to the chief pilot.
1/ Boy, do we have it coming. And soon.
2/ Don’t you just love “I told you so’s”? Let’s hope it’s a cheap one. But, after all, Stalin said: The death of one person is a tragedy; the death of a million is just a statistic. 3,000 people on 9/11. Ho, hum.
Total agreement. It is at times too much to believe.
If our gov't isn't going to stand up for us, we'll just have to fend for ourselves - Galt like.
>> You left out the important part. Did your buddy take the heat from the reporting and survive job wise?
He got in a snotfest with the boss, who said: “Do you realize what kind of discrimination suit we could be in if someone decided to sue us?” My buddy’s answer was something like: “take a good look at me, then compare my face to the hijackers - they all could be my brother.” He’s still flying.
What airline does Miss Judge intend to use in the future?
I think you inserted the “post an article on FR” link address in the place where you should have inserted the IBD link.
