God Bless this man.

Sometimes I think that, being a Marine, that helps him write the way he does. No BS. None. He tells it as it is, and isn’t interested in compromising just so he can get invited to cocktail parties in Manhattan.

Good point, I much prefer Sowell’s style of writing than the meandering musings of say, a Peggy Noonan. Hundreds of trite, flowery words all leading up to the one or two “money quotes”. Like it was written backwards, come up with a couple of money quotes and fill enough other words in there to get it published.

No, I think it’s mostly just because he’s black. I find generally the most exciting “Republicans” to be black or women - they don’t feel shackled by their race/sex and that they can speak freely and what they really think. In their minds they know no-one can really question their racial attitudes and such. PC-ness be damned.

Ditto that. Sowell embodies ‘American’. Read his essays whenever I can.
