A changed race (Scozzafava 23rd Congressional District)
Watertown Daily Times ^ | SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 1, 2009 | none stated

Posted on 11/01/2009 6:19:31 AM PST by Texas Fossil

Dierdre K. Scozzafava's decision to suspend her campaign for the 23rd Congressional District seat is a shocking development in what had already been an extraordinary race.

In her statement Saturday morning, the assemblywoman explained the reasons behind her decision: "It is increasingly clear that pressure is mounting on many of my supporters to shift their support. Consequently, I hereby release those individuals who have endorsed and supported my campaign to transfer their support as they see fit to do so."

During the day Saturday, she began to quietly and thoughtfully encourage her supporters to vote for Democrat William L. Owens.

Just when you think you understand what is going on. There is a surprise.

Guess none of us should be surprised by a RINO.

In other news, Jeffrey Dahmer was interviewed at home, where he was quietly and thoughtfully nibbling on body parts he had extracted from young men he had previously raped and murdered.

“During the day Saturday, she began to quietly and thoughtfully encourage her supporters to vote for Democrat William L. Owens.”

This speaks volumes to gullible party-first RINO’s like Newt and Michael Steele, and should be a wake-up call to lock-step “republicans” and independants. Don’t judge the credentials or principles of a candidate simply by the R attached to their name. Scozzafava was an Arlen Spectacle waiting to happen.

WAKE UP AMERICA!!

So, this POS is not endorcing the dem candidate. Sounds to me like she was nothing but a RINO to begin with.

Not surprisingly, Gingrich now is supporting the conservative. Hey Newt, too LATE, you supported this piece of crap before the decided to suspend her run...of course her name is still on the ballot.

Whatever business she is in, the good citizens of NY 23 should avoid it and her. Drive her to the curb where she belongs after this election...then begin working on the party officials who nominated her in the first place.

Don’t rely on editorials. There’s no fact-checking. Even news stories in the New York Times are more reliable than any editorial.

Thanks, I understand you valid point and should have put that in the post.

But it is a pretty direct quote. If she truly said what is reported, it is devastating to her credibility.

The paper admits bias in the article.

Scozzofava is a patriot. She abandoned personal selfish motives for the good of the country and her state. If more politicians did that, this country would not be in the state that it is.

I am 99.9% positive that Hoffman is going to win because his message is the right one for New York.

Scozzafava was forced out by the polls, lack of money, and probably by pressure from the RNC and local GOP party officials. Finishing third would have made them all look foolish. She should have left the race a week ago.

I think people are going to vote their pocket book in NY rather than ideology because that is what they do in elections and if they do, Hoffman wins.

Now she is supporting the Democrat. She would have supported them in every vote before the Congress.

She was a snake in the grass, and Newt bit for it.

Next time she runs she can run as a Democrat. Republcans have her number now. ——————I hope.

This rural district depends on the federal government for an investment in Fort Drum and its soldiers, environmental protection of our international waterway and the Adirondack Park, and the livelihood of all our dairy farmers across the district, among other support.

And this is where we are today. Too many people that depend to much on government rather than themselves.
