An ocean? By the article you would have thought that this crack was 35 miles wide. By the picture it looks to be 35 miles long. An ocean? I think they are exagerating just a little.

Really? Here's the second sentence from the article:

The crack, 20 feet wide in spots, opened in 2005.

Good catch, thank you. I read the article too quickly. The tone, though, does make one think of a much bigger crack for it to turn into an ocean.
