A 21-year-old pregnant soldier who was due to come home within weeks is the second Chicago-area victim from the shooting at Fort Hood.
Francesca Velez had just returned from a tour of duty in Iraq and was due to be temporarily released from the military on maternity leave, according to her family and friends.

The massacre at Ft. Hood yesterday has stunned and grieved America. Everywhere people are asking questions. How could this happen on a secure military installation? What drove him to do it?
What is largely being ignored is that Hasan was a devout Muslim. An internet post in his name earlier this year compared suicide bombers to soldiers who throw themselves on a grenade to save their comrades. A former colleague, Col. Terry Lee, recalls Hasan arguing “Muslims have the right to rise up against the U.S. military.”
Hasan passed out Korans the morning of the attack and “donated his furniture to anyone who would take it” This certainly appears to be the actions of someone preparing for martyrdom.
The tragedy at Ft. Hood yesterday deeply grieves us and we mourn with those who are mourning. But the tragedy will only be deepened if a politically correct narrative is once again foisted on the American people.

Francheska Velez, a 2006 graduate of Kelvyn Park, recently had returned from a tour of duty in Iraq.
According to sources, Velez had been back for just three days before the incident. She returned home early because she was a month-and-a-half pregnant. She happened to be in the building filling out paperwork due to her pregnancy.
Velez did her basic training in South Carolina. She has an older brother and two nieces.

Not by Barry’s count. Even a baby born alive and breathing under his or her own lungpower unassisted for hours is not deserving of being granted basic human rights in Barack Obama’s legal view.

Wow that’s absolutely terrible.
Though something in me loves the fact that this rampaging Muslim was stopped by a little blonde America woman with exposed arms and hair.
Just about the only bloody way this could be worse.
Body count is 14 as far as I’m concerned. May Hasan receive a fair trial followed by hanging by the neck until dead, followed by burial in the pig manure tank at Champaign-Urbana.
