Muhammad's appellate attorneys have long argued that their client is mentally ill and that he was incompetent to represent himself and perhaps even to stand trial. They decried Virginia's haste in executing him.I'm glad we got rid of this guy in just over 7 years. But it's pathetic that 7 years passes for "haste" in a case like this. Who cares if he's mentally ill? This kind of mental illness is just not something we can afford to subsidize to the tunes of millions of dollars for decades in a psych hospital.

Does anyone know how long it took for them to put Tim McVeigh out of our misery? Seems like they dispatched him pretty quick too. Wonder if it was because originally it was suspected he had a middle eastern accomplice.

They got pissed at Ted Bundy so they executed him early in ten years ("the Bundy exception).
I think the normal wait for execution is 14 years.
