Bush to Develop Think Tank Affiliated With His Library
Wall Street Journal ^ | November 12, 2009 | John D. McKinnon

Posted on 11/13/2009 11:17:49 AM PST by La Enchiladita

Former President George W. Bush on Thursday outlined plans to establish a $300 million library, museum and research institute, taking a step back onto the national stage.

The George W. Bush Policy Institute—which would be the first think tank to be affiliated with a presidential library—will address issues that were priorities during Mr. Bush's presidency, such as education, global health, political freedom and economic growth, and seek to promote advances by offering practical solutions, the former president said.

In a speech at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, where the center is slated to be built, Mr. Bush said the institute would undertake projects "designed to make an impact in the real world."

...

In his public appearances, Mr. Bush generally hasn't directly criticized President Barack Obama or his policies. On Thursday, the former president appeared to deliver an oblique rebuke of the Obama administration's approach to Iran and other oppressive regimes, which some critics view as too conciliatory.

"Today, the forces of freedom and tolerance face new challenges," Mr. Bush said. "From labor camps in North Korea, to political prisons in Cuba and Burma, university halls in Iran, coffeehouses in Venezuela, and other places, dissidents and reformers are seeking strength and support. When America stands for liberty, they take heart. When we do not, the dictators tighten their grip."

Mr. Bush didn't directly mention Iraq or Afghanistan, although former First Lady Laura Bush did, as she described another initiative that would focus on advancing women's rights, especially in the Middle East.

Oh God. Not another one.

Bush, that think tank that was the White House sure wasn’t anything I would like to see repeated.

Please don’t become another Jimmy Carter, making one stupid public comment after another over the upcoming decades.

Enjoy your retirement with my blessing. You deserve it. So do we.

Yeah, that library down at my alma mater at Texas A&M just became a launching pad for the Kenyan marxist interloper a few weeks ago.

And Robert Gates, former TAMU president, is the only executive branch holdover from GWB to 000bama.

I am convinced that the greater goal of the globalists is world government, and that they will tolerate a little rivalry between the two “parties” in order to press that goal forward.

The Hegelian dialectic in practice, indeed.

$300 million? Sounds like a "shovel ready" project to me.

Enjoy your retirement with my blessing. You deserve it. So do we.

I appreciate everything his administration did to keep this country safe after 9/11. Unfortunately, there's a lot more to being President, and he was average, at best. He never seemed to understand that Democrats were as much his Administration's enemy as al Qaeda.

Shouldn’t the term be “think thimble” in this case?

Bush to Develop Think Tank

Bush will always be more associated with the word "tank" than "think."

Anyway, he should simply retire go fishing.

“Bush to Develop Think Tank Affiliated With His Library”

The gods forbid!!!

Maybe moron Rove will head it. After all, he was Bush’s ganglion to offset Bush’s lack of a brain.

Let me guess, they come up with great ideas, but don’t ever bother to articulate them?

You felt this way throughout his presidency? It must have been a very painful 8 years for you and now you feel so relieved. Congratulations.

The intense hatred by the left convinces me that Pres. Bush was a great president.

That’s true regarding the Democrats.

I support Bush’s direction with regard to Iraq and Afghanistan. I did not support him allowing 30,000 Saudi students to be able to come to the U.S. after the problems we had on 09/11.

I did not support him allowing Iran to train, aim, and send in terrorists to Iraq during our campaign there.

I did not support his open borders policy. His early statements on illegal immigrants caused an absolute flood of them to pour across our borders. It was shameful.

We have no idea if terrorists came in. We did find Iraqi and Chinese papers on the border, so we know some of these people did pass through. Potential terrorists? Who the hell knows? Who the hell cares? We can sure be forgiven for asking...

I did not support him trying to legalize people who broke our laws to come here.

I did not support him speaking of Islamic adherents in constant glowing terms. Hasan is one of the reasons why.

Hasan could have just as easily have been called up to deploy before Bush left office. Frankly, I think he was one lucky son of a gun, that some of these wing-nuts didn’t pop off prior to him leaving office.

Our troops don’t even have ammunition at the checkpoints to our bases, or if they do it’s one gun stored away inside. I’d be surprised if there was ammunition in those guns before Bush left office.

What the hell are we doing? Much of what we do these days is just whacked out.

“It must have been a very painful 8 years…”

I will try to be kind and reply without blowing you up into smithereens.

It was 8 painful years.

I read where Bush did not believe in our constitution as it is. It was just a piece of paper.

We are in this mess because Bush lead us into much bigger future problems no matter whether the cheeky Kenyon bastard or McCain had won. (McCain was also born outside the U.S. and not on U.S. soil. If you haven’t read, he was born in Colon, Republic of Panama.)

Never the less, many folks voted for moron Bush because of Cheney and not because of Bush.

Rove and Bush lead us into this mess.

Go have another tortilla.

You’re a very frightened individual, aren’t you?

But publicly ranting and raving against a former President who kept this country safe, who did the best he could in the most difficult job in the world, only makes you appear foolish.

Have you ever tried being a public servant and taking all the heat they do?

Have you ever realized that the POTUS becomes the president of ALL the people and not just of you and your every precious opinion?

Try growing up.

Comment #9 wasn’t made to you.
D1 didn’t have the guts to respond to me, and as for you...
when you talk about blowing someone up, I don’t doubt you would and I hope you are stopped before you do so.

You also need help with grammar and spelling.
