Some Fear Bush Administration Could Become Target in 9/11 Trial
Fox News ^ | 11-14-09

Some critics say a civilian trial -- instead of a military tribunal -- for self-proclaimed Sept. 11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and his accomplices could end up targeting the Bush administration and its anti-terror policies.

The Obama administration, in deciding to try alleged Sept. 11 conspirators in a New York courtroom, has said it is setting its sights on convictions, but some critics say a civilian trial -- instead of a military tribunal -- could end up targeting the Bush administration and its anti-terror policies.

One of those five defendants, Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, has been at the center of the debate over those Bush-era polices, in particular the harsh interrogation techniques used on Mohammed and others in an effort to obtain information on Al Qaeda and any additional attacks.

I dunno..there is a hardcore brainwashed bunch that stand behind this muslim fraud. I think they would open up the rah-rah-rah section and cheer Obama on if we were attacked during the trial.

#6.) Confusion and division created in the US by this parade of lies will further enable “crises” to be taken advantage of by marxists per Alinsky’s rules for radicals.

The idea of all this is to have the American people question EVERYTHING we hold dear, our military, our elements of national defense (CIA, FBI, NSA), and expose our methods in an extreme atmosphere of puritanical moral relativism. So, we question our electoral system, our courts, the truthfulness of loyal defenders of our country. The most important part for the “Anointed ones” of liberalism is that we must “feel good about ourselves again”.. in an idiotic attempt to try to reshape the world’s last best hope of freedom into a totalitarian state.

What we need to do is join the families of 9/11 in demanding this NOT HAPPEN. Pressure our congresspeople, pressure everyone who supports this ***hole. This is our very way of life being threatened, by people using our freedoms to remove our freedoms.

Gee, you think?

Of course all these guys are going to be brought out into public scrutiny. That’s part of the reason the left is pushing for a civilian trial.

“If the terrorists use their treatment as an issue at trial the prosecution must refute it or lose the case which will destroy the president. In refuting mistreatment claims of the terrorists, Holder will have to explain why he is holding investigations into that exact matter.”

This is great! Wow! That’s a terrible box to be in.

And .. we know they will use their treatment by the USA .. because we KNOW their training shows them how to do that (it plays well on the world stage), and we’ve already seen them use it against us. And .. this trial in NYC will be the biggest world stage the terrorists have ever been on; so of course they will use it.

You’re right, how will Holder explain why he’s investigating the CIA, if we didn’t do the things the terrorists allege.

Amazing!!

The other thing I heard the last couple of days was that Kalid WANTED TO BE TRIED IN NYC. Hmmmmm ..?? That supports my theory that this is a “planned operation”. Kalid gets to NYC and the terrorists attack the City (a dirty bomb might do the trick) and Kalid dies .. along with perhaps tens of thousands of other people.

The fact this current admin has no awareness of this possibility lends me to believe they may be hoping it will happen - whereby they can make use of “.. never let a good crisis go to waste ...”. I wonder .. would they go that far by declaring martial law and shutting down the govt ..?? These people are really scary.

Thanks for your great info Mike!!

No doubt in my mind this is the reason for the switcheroo. Going after Bush, Cheney, Ashcroft, the CIA, DoD, and anyone else involved. THIS IS ALL PART OF THE 'AMERICA APOLOGIZES' meme.

And since we don't hold WAR TRIALS in America, what better way to throw very red meat to the lefites who are very unhappy right now because man-child has not left the wars and Congress is restricting abortion in Obamacare.

Sorry, but that sounds like the nonsense the liberals were spouting about Bush during the last administration. Sounds just as silly when our side says it.

Yep. Clinton was going to suspend the election in 2000, than Bush was going to do it in 2008 and now Obama is going to do it in 2012.

The tinfoil crowd needs something fresh.

It won't be anything as direct as placing any of the Bush administration officials in the dock. What is likely to happen is that a judge will rule any evidence gathered as a result of "hard" interrogation to be inadmissible in court. Mind you, there is a very great deal of evidence against KSM that was not gathered that way, but that may neither be here nor there. The object will be to present those hard interrogations as Bush screwing up the war against terrorism. 0bama gets to close Guantanamo, free the terrorists therein, and blame Bush for the inevitable outcome. If the terrorists don't go back to the battlefield right away 0bama gets to preen as a liberator; if they do, he has a ready-made fall guy. It's a win-win as long as the media let him get away with it.

That's where we come in. The alternate media - FR, in this case - do have the ability to alter the framing the MSM used to claim as their own province. It takes a lot of work and the MSM still have the ability to frame the terms of discussion to begin with - we have the new and disgusting locution "tea baggers" to demonstrate that point. But it isn't free anymore, and neither is it necessarily permanent. And 2010 is looming. 0bama had better be very careful with this, because although it looks like an anti-Bush activist's dream come true, it could very easily turn into an ineradicable political nightmare.

I figure about 17% (just my gut figure here) of the lefties will get a real tingle up their leg at this type of an eventuality. The other 83% of the populace would see this and say to themselves, “Oh my God, what have we done?”

Obama and his fellow travelers may look like the brightest bulbs on the block, but my take is that they simply do not know how not to overplay their hand.

When terrorists in open court are allowed to job the system, many U.S. Citizens are going to be furious.

I'm finding it impossible to even imagine any other explanation. Considering that the risks involving homeland security, national security, protecting intelligence secrets, and etc are so extreme -- and considering that military tribunals are available, less risky on all counts, and quicker -- there would have to be some highly exceptional motivation to choosing a civilian criminal court instead.

What explanation has Holder given? Not much, really. Certainly nothing remotely exceptional. From what I've heard his main argument is that this will show the world we trust out own legal system and act according to the rule of law.

Problem is this is obvious b.s. What's more, Holder himself has already contradicted it! For instance he's announced the U.S. will seek the death penalty, while also admitting we haven't decided what the charges will be!! How does that speak to a commitment to "rule of law," deciding the penalty before deciding the charge?!?

Additionally, Holder's announced that the terrorists won't be released. So, if they win in court on a technicality, but we toss them back in permanent detention anyway, what will that tell the world about how we "trust our legal system"? Again, why risk that? Why force this issue over what has been reported as withering and passionate opposition during the inter-agency process.

As the article suggests, there is only one explanation: Get Bush and put America on trial.

““With each one of these moves, zero alienates more and more Americans. This will sink him further in the polls.”

I think he could`nt care less about the polls. His entire focus is causing as much destruction to the country as he can. And he can do a lot more in 3 more years.”

The point about him sinking in the polls with each of these alienating moves is 2010. The public will not want to facilitate what he’s doing, and the way to stop it will be to vote his rat henchmen out of office. That was my point.

It’s going to be a debacle in many ways, but it could backfire in a huge way on the Demagogues and their MSM lapdogs..... because despite all the terrible b.s. we will have to put up with from leftist defense attorneys, media morons, and Islamist hacks, this will in fact put 9/11 and terrorism front and center of media and public attention for some period of time.

That does allow many opportunities to get some actual facts out and to challenge the main liberal and media “narratives” as they like to call them. Obozo may be sorry that he ever decided to bring KSM and fellow terrorists into the media capital of America — yes, they will get many chances to spread their messages, which never should be facilitated in this way by the US govt, but the circus will also provide at least the possibility of informing Americans about many things they have not heard or have ignored..... and let’s remember how many of current voting age were little kids when 9/11 occurred and barely know a thing about it......

I’m not saying I would ever want this terrorist-coddling circus act we are going to get in NYC.... simply that it also provides opportunities to challenge the charlatans who have been controlling the terms of public information for far too long.

I think you are right in broad terms that Obozo and co. may not have thought through all the *political* perils these trials will pose for the Demagogues...... (in fact I just posted something related to that here before I actually started to read the thread).

However, we must not underestimate the groveling sycophancy of the media and their abilities to bury almost any fact or issue in boatloads of c-BS style propaganda.

I don’t think the inherent contradictions in liberal positions will get much attention, but there are many ways that these trials can force issues of terrorism, 9/11, and shameless Democrat pandering into public view.

I've been trying to figure out how the whole not-have-an-election thing could happen.

Obama could sign an executive order, but it would not be binding.

A statute, no matter how buried, runs a major risk of getting exposed.

He'd need a majority of states to not hold an election. I don't see the states agreeing, even the bluest of the blue, without a massive uprising. Their state capitals would grind to a halt. Most state officials aren't on the ballot in 2012, so they have nothing to gain.

What I can see happening is him not abiding by the results of the election, should the outcome not favor him. He'd get Holder to invalidate the results on some sort of grounds and tie this up in court for years.

First, he wants to shift all the attention away from himself.

You may be right, but this sure as heck isn't going to accomplish that. There couldn't be a starker contrast between the way Bush handled KSM and the way Obama handled him.

Just as 9/11 was Bush's problem because it took place on his watch, KSM is going to be Obama's problem because this trial is going to take place in his administration, at his directive. There won't be anywhere for Obama to 'blame Bush' once things heat up.

The Timothy McVeigh trial needed a change of venue to Denver Colorado, because Oklahoma City was too close. How is a trial for the 9/11 mastermind going to fare within walking distance of Ground Zero?

In the best case scenario, there will be traffic jams, protests, and other inconveniences New Yorkers will have to bear for months. In the worst case scenario, New York becomes target # 1 for a revitalized Jihadist movement.

I think Obama uses the same 29 year old know-nothing Moveon.org contributors to write his foreign policy that he uses to write his speeches.

I can see it backfiring on Obama big time. Soros, not so much. I'm certain that Soros is positioned to make massive amounts of money if the United States goes down in flames.

I'm sure Soros would love to see some of his pet projects, like the legalization of marijuana in the USA, to come to fruition, but I'm also sure that he'll settle for the consolation prize of making tens or even hundreds of billions of dollars.

The only thing that would backfire on Soros is if he was to be thrown in jail for crimes committed against the United States. I don't see it happening. Ever.

You left out, that in 2008, Nancy Pelosi was going to impeach Bush and Cheney simultaneously, and become President in one fell swoop.

Trying the 9/11 defendants in an American civil court in New York would be like trying the Japanese who bombed Pearl Harbor in a civil court in Hawaii. There is no valid historical precedent for foreign enemy combatants to be tried in American civil courts for war crimes.
