Do you have a list of Reagan's "original" memorable phrases that he didn't borrow from previous historical figures and writers? How about that poem he "wrote" for the Challenger disaster speech? His delivery was historically his own, but the words were not.
Common sense phrases get used again and again, simply because they are common sense.
Even if they never buy any pipe, TC can bill the SoA for the 1/2 billion in ‘expenses’ - office rent, travel, that sort of thing.
They just now rented some office space in Alaska.
Mostly what they have done is go around and beg for more money...
With Ted gone, the tarsands winding down (a bit anyway) and tons of new and cheap gas - this pipleine isn’t going aywhere.
I’m betting a G2L plant and the re-use of the TAPS system to get that product to market.
I’m afraid you have the advantage as I do not have a copy of the book, let alone pg 125.
I guess when the open season is complete we will see if anyone thinks her version of ‘the pipeline’ is viable.
BTW - did you pay the full price or get one of the $5 ones?
I’m waiting for her to show me that she has the ability to sell the need for fiscal responsibility to the voters; the ability to explain why we can’t continue down the current irresponsible path; the ability to explain why we don’t need to grow the federal government slower than the Democrats would, but that we need to shrink it.
I’m waiting for her to show me that she can sell these concepts. So far she hasn’t shown me.
But I will continue to watch her. I like her. Her heart is in the right place and she has good instincts. But I sense that if she’s going to be a serious contender - if she’s to be taken seriously - she needs to be able to defend free market capitalism from a more informed position. She needs to be able to sell it and in order to do so she needs to convince the squishy middle that she not only believes in it but that her belief is built on a solid understanding of it.
I’m not sure that I’m selling this well myself here, but what I’m trying to say is that she’s still lacking that certain “presidential gravitas”. She’s going to need to not only convince libertarians like myself that she’s a “fellow traveler”, at least on the economic issues, but she’s going to have to convince the squishy middle that she’s up to the task of being President.
If she decides to run her handlers need to split her work days between two activities; half of the day she needs to be boning up on her economics reading Mises, Hayek and Rothbard. The other half she needs to spend locked in a room watching old Reagan films.
LOL! Hmmmm.
You might want to think of another candidate!
"...At least 35 trillion cubic feet of proven natural gas reserves lie untapped on the North Slope, and geologists say there are hundreds of trillions more, both on- and offshore. Our oil and gas supplies would be enough to provide ten years of total energy independence for the entire country.
Construction of a gas pipeline to transport this safe, clean energy supply to the Lower 48 was originally authorized by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission in 1979. At the time, a lot of folks had high hopes. Not only would the pipeline become a second economic pillar for the state, creating jobs and development opportunities, but it would reduce our dependence on foreign supplies and therefore our reliance on unfriendly nations.
Cheap natural gas from other countries had delayed the project for years. And for years the big producers who held leases on the gas fields sat on their contracts, preferring instead to develop projects in countries with fewer labor and environmental restrictions. It was unfortunate that our government's well-meaning policies had driven producers to other parts of the world where there were no restraints on their activities. That was no way to protect the environment or heat the economy."
I think she has nailed all of the factors holding up full exploitation of the oil and gas reserves...
To answer your other question--both!
I bought a copy in person from Barnes & Noble (could've gotten it for $2.00 less if I'd bought it at Costco), and have a $9.00 copy on order from Amazon.
Cheers!
To bad you did’t hear Sarah’s interview with Rush or read the transcript.
Also many of her articles on FaceBook are published in the Wall Street Journal and National Review Online.
Don’t bother to hear the other interviews, you might receive your answer and you don’t want that now do you.
Has she repudiated "a pathway to citizenship"? If so, please give me a link. I'd like to know.
Cheers!
Don't know if I jumped the gun with that one, or not. It's late, and I'm tired. Maybe trying to have a little fun.
I was once a newbie too. Arizona is holding his own on the thread, so far.
I haven't done any such thing. I saw the transcript of the Rush interview. Nothing new or earth-shaking there on immigration. I've asked folks several times for a link to some clear repudiation of amnesty, but no one has provided it. Vague claims or lip service to border security won't cut it.
Your candidate has never won a State or Federal election.
Save your Kabuki Slapstick and attempt to get you candidate
elected to a State or Federal office then check back in.
I believe you were right on target! LOL! I needed the laugh, also. Thanks.
As the chairman of America’s Independent Party, I must say I’m fascinated by the her fixation on Independents in the EIB interview. It’s striking.
In other words, your answer is “no.” Thanks.
She got very little help from the GOP in Alaska, and did all she did by creating legitimate groundswells at the grass roots levels.
She is the embodiment of what the Obama phenomenon *pretended* to be.
Cheers!
But some states would pass laws expressly allowing abortion. That is a little different from laws against it.
The only reason I voted in the 2008 election was because of Sarah Palin. As a native Arizonian (One of the few) for 31 years, I have watched this state go from a strict Libertartian/Conservative state to a barely center right state. We have been infested with people from CA, IL, NY, NJ, MA, and a number of the states. They left those states for a better life in Arizona, there was freedom, low taxes, low cost of living, and sustained growth. They did not leave their politics at home. They brought them here and have nearly turned us into what they left behind. This was a state that back in 1990 rejected a ballot initiative to MLK a state holiday http://www.encyclopedia.com/doc/1P2-8200718.html not because we were racist, but because why should MLK get a whole day when Lincoln and Washington have to share a day. There are more reasons than just this but the point is were a now run like a left wing state with the exception of gun rights. We have run up huge deficits, dismantled property rights, and have high taxes. McCain thrives in this environment he can play both sides and score %70 of the vote. He doesn’t have core convictions, he only has finely tuned talking points that appeal to everybody, albeit misleading.
I am by no means a McCain fan, the point of this thread is to have an honest debate about Sarah Palin.
