Pro-Palin Vs Anti-Palin (A Substance Based Debate) Vanity
Posted on 11/17/2009 9:07:07 PM PST by TheArizona
I would like a substance based debate for and against Sarah Palin. I don't want to hear vague platitudes and statements not based in fact or an opinion not backed up by a well thought out explanation. This is not meant to be a kool aid drinking session nor a bashing session. I also do not want to hear debate about any other candidates. This is a Sarah Palin only discussion. I want to see a substanative debate among Liberty loving conservatives as to why or why not Sarah Palin should be the conservative standard bearer and leader.

Have you read her book, to find out in her own words, why she left?

I think Palin has thought through the implications of a “path to citizehship” for illegals and has realized that, foremost, it represents a new bloc of Demonrat voters that could perpetuate one-party rule.

Do you have a source for that, also what is the context in which she said it?
Is it possible that being the VP she had to publicly mirror the views of McCain?
I can agree with a pathway to citizenship, after the illegal aliens paid heavy fines, back taxes, restitution, repaid any medical or other public cash assistance benefit, paid back education, learned english, had a sponsor that would be finacially responsible, and had to go back to their home country for a minimun of 15 years and stayed there while they waited, and if any crime was committed ANY CRIME they were no longer eligible to re-enter the US for any reason.

She had sound reasons for stepping down IMO. That has very little to do with her electability.

She covers exactly what you said on p.125 of her book.

Charlie Gibson interview with Sarah Palin [Charlie] GIBSON: Roe v. Wade, do you think it should be reversed?
[Sarah] PALIN: I think it should and I think that states should be able to decide that issue.

[questioner] To clarify, so you support a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants?
[Sarah Palin] I do because I understand why people would want to be in America.

Nice try, troll-boy.

In all fairness to Sarah Palin, during the 2008 campaign she was the Republican VP candidate, and as such, she had to recite the Republican Party Presidential candidate's campaign line.
I think your beef about the amnesty line is better directed at McCain, and the RINOs who put McCain at the top of the party's ticket.

Good point. Palin could do a lot worse than to adopt the guiding principles of Ronald Reagan which she apparently did in the statement you quoted. It tells me she is well on her way. Reagan was demonetized too but his doggedness and good spirit prevailed.

If a poster gives out false statements, I will correct that. Exactly what "false information" have I given out?
The poster of this thread asked for a substantive discussion, and I simply gave the major reasons I don't support her, all documented from the public record and based on my most closely held Reaganite, personhood pro-life, moral conservative, constitution-based beliefs.

She is not in favor of illlegals and wants a secure border.
AS a person who lives 20 miles north from the largest and busiest port of entry in the world, San Diego - Tijuana
and know first hand the illegal problems for decades, there is a question even the most anti illegals have asked.
With over 12 - 15 million illegals all over the U.S.,
the tens of thousands of people who will spread out to go all over each state to catch the millions of illegals with the MSM, ACLU, etc following them step by step and after several years and they are caught, and shipped back, to cross again and again., this will work....Not.
The major crossing for some time has been boats. Sometimes several a month are found on beaches here in the middle of the night.
The Coast Guard and Border Patrol cannot block our 70 mile
S.D. coast line
