“It won’t, unfortunately, derail Copenhagen”
The Copenhagen Treaty is already dead in the water, since China and India are refusing to cooperate. They aren’t stupid. Russia said a while back that it’s energy economy “is carbon based” for the foreseeable future.
There was already considerable skepticism here in the US (most people don’t feel any warming is caused by humans). It would have been political suicide in the long run to enact massive taxes and kill our economy over a non-effect.
The release of this information, which shows:
1) Illegal resistance to FOIA requests
2) Tampering with scientific data to support CAGW
3) Probable destruction of data to prevent peer replication (or not) of results
4) Suppression of scientific data that contradicted their theories
5) Suppression of opposing scientific viewpoints in peer reviewed publications (then claiming that due to few peer reviewed papers being published the other side had no evidence)
6) Guidelines for brainwashing the gullible masses with their viewpoint
7) Probable money laundering
is absolutely enough to show CAGW has been an enormous scam.
It will also doubtless result in a Congressional investigation into similar entities here in the US, the IPCC in particular. I expect Senator Inhofe had a party last night.
Some of the top folks at CRU will very likely never practice science again, and the worst offenders will likely end up in jail.
This is the biggest scientific scandal of all time. Don’t let anyone tell you differently. Literally TRILLIONS of dollars, and the entire future of the US economy were on the line.
It doesn’t matter if the big MSM outlets are slow to cover this. It’s gone viral, Fox and Drudge are both carrying it - the cat’s out of the bag!

Trillions of dollars are still on the line- Obama and the dems are NOT goign to let go of htis golden goose- and the mainstream media is STILL brainwashing people with hteir never ending articles, commercials, shows etc, and every article mentioning anythign to do with nature is blamed on man- we ARE goign to suffer fro mthis scam regardless of whether the scam gets exposed or not- already states have mandated vast environmental rules regulations and taxes to ‘combat global warming’, and they will continue to do so- this nightmare will never end regardless of how much science proves that we’re not to blame- the ball has begun rolling, and nothing wil lever stop it.

The cat has been out of hte bag for a long long time now- Even former IPCC ‘scientist have come out and confessed to being coerced to agree to htings they didn’t beleive- but the more they came out, the harder congress and the administration went ahead anyways with their scam- they will simply reword the issue, and keep imposing hteir misguided guilt on everyone

Don’t get me wrong- I hope you’re right- I hope htis madness does infact come to a halt, but I’m afraid the power of $$ is just too great a draw to the GW scam artists to let it go- no matter which way the climate goes, it’s always goign to ‘be our fault’ accordign to global warmign nutjobs-
- Political pressure applied to researchers to generate data that shows warming
- Collusion and intervention in other organizations to get people whose viewpoint they disagreed with fired

I’ve always said, I don’t concern myself with how people will be ultimately judged by God in the afterlife. It’s enough for me to see people like Al Gore be publicly discredited and humiliated. I do take great joy in that.
