Of course LBJ was a better politico. One major reason why JFK chose him as his VP running mate was based on Johnson's ability to get things done with the Congress and hopefully bring in Texas for the Dems. Which Johnson did, barely. However, I don't buy into this notion that JFK was less liberal then LBJ. That somehow JFK was a conservative. That is a total fallacy.

All one needs to do is look at the overall record of liberalism. Especially the leftward march of the entire Kennedy clan, from RFK to TFK. By 1968 RFK was moving hard left and we all know how things turned out with Ted Fat Kennedy. All progressives are alike.

Never said he was. But in those days, even Democrats were usually attempting to work in the best interests of the US in the foreign policy arena, unlike today's "US is always wrong" crop of 'Rat leaders. JFK would have been more competent there, as LBJ was more competent in the domestic arena.
