(D-CO) Bennet willing to sacrifice seat over health vote
Politico ^ | 11/22/2009 | Josh Gerstein

Posted on 11/22/2009 1:06:58 PM PST by markomalley

Sen. Michael Bennet (D-Colo.) said Sunday that he will vote for landmark health care reform legislation even if it means he will be defeated at the polls next November.

"If you get to the final point and you are a critical vote for health care reform, and every piece of evidence tells you, if you support that bill, you will lose your job, would you cast the vote and lose your job? " CNN's John King asked Bennet on the "State of the Union" program.

"Yes," said Bennet, a former Denver public schools chief who was appointed to the Senate by Colorado's governor when President Barack Obama tapped Ken Salazar to be interior secretary.

King warned Bennet that the video of his vow would be sequestered in the event he is voted out next year.

"All right. That tape will be held -- I hate to tell you that, but that tape will be held right now," the CNN host said.

"Jane Norton is a RINO."

Not true. Ken Buck has all the charisma and speaking ability of a cardboard box (though in a year like this, that might not be insurmountable, especially since Bennet is also a human dishrag).

I guess you figured out I live in Colorado (Centennial).

I haven't heard any rumblings from Hickenlooper. Have you?

I think most smart dems know this year is not going to be a good one for them. So a nice and safe mayor's job would probably ok.

I think (hopefully) that it is going to be a bruising year for dems. So only the brave need apply.

I agree he (Hick) would be more formidable in a general election than Romanoff. But Romanoff understands and operates the state democrat machinery better than Hickenlooper.

Also, Romanoff isn't afraid to really play rough.

I guess you've heard Tancredo may run for guv?

"I hope we can do better than Norton....

Not likely, since Wiens and Buck are the only other candidates in, and no one else on the horizon. She has a big enough network that she will pull it off.

Did Buck run the prosecution of the Balloon Boy's daddy? He's the DA there.

I believe Buck is Adams County. Not balloon doofs turf.

I understand Jane loves “immigrants”.

I live in Douglas county just south of you.
Much as I like Tancredo, I think it would be a disaster if he ran for gov. Haven’t heard about Hick lately, but the threat is always there.
I would recommend getting involved in the local repub party. Douglas county republicans have a monthly meeting called first Friday in Parker. I’m sure Arap cty has the same sort of thing. I find this the best place to find out what is going on and keep abreast. The repub state chairman and higher ups are always there as well, and it is a good place to bend their ear. I have noticed attendance increasing lately - used to be 40-50 people, now I would estimate 75 attend.
This could be our year if we are smart about it, but I dread the prospect of running Norton and her ilk... We shall see. State caucusus March 16....

I was supporting Frazier before he backed out in favor of unseating Ed Perlmutter in CD-7.

I hope he does. Perlmutter is my rep and works for Pelosi more than his constituents (and he sends these glossy brochures that cost a fortune and look like campaign mailings and claims they are just constituent communications.) Frazier, I think, can give Perlmutter a good contest.

Are you really Amish?

No, but I play one on TV.

Which is a sin.

So I don't do it.

It's NOT spunk.

These traitors don't represent us any more. Every one of them have been bought off and promised something. They have sold out their constituents and their Country!

Between ACORN and SEIU there will never be another fair election.

I've been going to the Tea parties (Castlerock).

I agree Hick is a political danger. But he just doesn't seem like he has the fire in the belly like Romanoff.
He also isn't as politically savvy either. I think Romanoff would roll Hick. But Hick would do great in the general.

I think old Tax Ritter made a huge mistake by not appointing Hick to the Senate seat. Because it would be easy for the dems to keep the seat with Hick. I also think it was a slap to Romanoff by not appointing him.

I couldn't even tell you what Bennett looks like. I did see him on CSPAN (Senate floor). He looked really uncomfortable. I think they will start out his campaign with his pictures on milk cartons. I really think it will be near impossible for him to hold on to that seat. IMHO

Yeah! I think this is the Republicans year. Just hope a lot of Rinos don't get in.

BTW. I've worked with Ryan Frazier. Good future. I hope. Might be too early for him to run for the senate. Thanks for the rant.

Which is why the gop(they deserve lower case) in Mass. rolling over for the rule change is all the more infuriating. The Dems cheated to get to the point where they can hoodwink the US citizens with a bribe-laden bill forced through over the weekend.
+++++++++++++++

These POS have lit the powderkeg. They don’t even know what’s going to hit them.

I guessing (hopin) on the day this thing passes, somebody files with SCOTUS.

It won't happen. The tenth amendment is dead.

if congress & the presidency flips to Repub, they wont stop it ?

First, you're assuming that Republicans are that competent to regain the majority. Second, you're assuming they'll just repeal it. If they try, watch what the Democrats do. They will go on the offense, and the Republicans will wilt. I doubt Republicans will find the votes for a repeal. How do you think it plays out ? See above.
