He was editor of "Marxism Today". Tells you all you need to know. Plus he looks like a marxist ball gargler.

I want to be in an anterior position to Martin Jacques when he demonstrates to Americans how to bow.

It will give him a whole new meaning to the American word
“fudgesicle.”

[Article] The United States has long been in denial of this, believing that the end-point of every society must be Western, by virtue of the fact that its own characteristics are universal.

This is a liberal puke talking about liberal hybris and liberal fantasies. He looks forward to groveling.

Speak for yourself, pal.

Oh, and what ever happened to "do something about it"?

The Brits have caved in years ago.

SOME Brits. Many others don't speak in the pleasing countertenor of this liberal castrato.

And Maggie Thatcher is still alive. If she could move a little faster, she'd rip this guy a new one for being such a defeatist troll.

The author can shut up. America will bow to NO ONE. These other nations owe this nation more than they can ever hope to repay for getting their fat out of the fire during WW I and WWII for starters. And what other country sends money and supplies to these countries when THEY face dire circumstances from floods, typhoons etc. How many of them ever came to out aid following floods and earthquakes ( besides maybe Japan)? Not very many.
0bama can go straight to hell and not pass go nor collect 200 bucks.

Martin Jacques on why the U.S. must get used to decline—and learn humility.

If America keeps electing democrats then they must get used to decline...that much I can agree on.

Oh, hell, there it is. Are he and Carville shower-buddies?

Members of the same cueball lodge? Do they go on tingle dates with Missy Matthews? Carville's heterosexual, but you never know.

Somehow I don't detect a whole lot of kowtow in Sly's posture.

Will the Chinese and the mullahs also bow to us as a sign of reciprocity in this new Marxist world?

The Nihonophile’s of the 80’s just look silly nowadays, just as their cousins the Sinophile’s will look when China starts running into it’s own problems - which will happen.

If Zero gets his way, then certainly the U.S. will enter a protracted period of decline - but since we’re unlikely to catch up with Europe on that score, I don’t really get what reason Jacques has to be giddy.

China, in fact, understands the United States much better than the U.S. understands China. This is because China—like other developing nations—has been obliged to understand the U.S. in order to negotiate its economic growth and modernization

This much is absolutely correct. Americans in general, have not understood the rest of the world -- they didn't need to until the 90s. However, once the 90s happened and the wall came down, we had a rush of development by formerly communist and socialist countries and the two giants: China and India awoke from their centuries-long slumber. Russia and the EU and Brazil also changed dramatically (economically mind you in the case of Russia, politically, i'm not too sure).

But common people aside, the failure was in the govt and governing agencies (like the CIA for example), who stuck in their cold war mindset and didn't wake up to new realities.

And in the regulatory agencies who didn't realise that now, US business had no need to comply with a preponderance of rules in CA, IL etc when they could go abroad -- the rest of the world has learnt how to dance the capitalist tune and the capitalist have other partners.

“Fortunately, in Barack Obama the nation has a president that possesses a rare characteristic for that office, humility”

Oh, that’s rich. You know your world is upside down when you take an arrogant little pissant like Barack Obama and call him a leader with “humility.” The man utterly exudes self-importance and pomp.

The rest of the article is, to use an English phrase, bollocks.

The US is not declining, the fact is that the rest of the world is catching up and realising that socialism doesn't work. The US WILL decline if we make the same mistakes THEY did -- namely to socialise.

the sad thing is that that is EXACTLY what we are doing now under Ohbummer
