Navy SEALs Face Assault Charges for Capturing Most-Wanted Terrorist
Fox News ^ | Tuesday, November 24, 2009 | By Rowan Scarborough

Navy SEALs have secretly captured one of the most wanted terrorists in Iraq — the alleged mastermind of the murder and mutilation of four Blackwater USA security guards in Fallujah in 2004. And for their trouble, three of the SEALs, members of the Navy's elite commando unit, are now facing criminal charges, sources told FoxNews.com.

The three have refused non-judicial punishment — called an admiral's mast — and requested a trial by court-martial.

Ahmed Hashim Abed, whom the military code-named "Objective Amber," told investigators he was punched by his captors — and he had the bloody lip to prove it.

Now, instead of being lauded for bringing to justice a high-value target, three of the SEAL commandos, all enlisted, face assault charges and have retained lawyers.

I’m outraged by their conduct! Why didn’t they kill him? I guess he may have had info that the Seals helped him remember.

there is two sides to this. If there are to few people on the right going in then the military will swing left, then we are in real trouble.

~~Dear God ..end this madness .............. PING!

It's a derelection of duty and these brave warriors' lives will be ruined because a terrorist got slugged and had a bloody lip???

Matthew McCabe, a Special Operations Petty Officer Second Class (SO-2), is facing three charges: dereliction of performance of duty for willfully failing to safeguard a detainee, making a false official statement, and assault.

Petty Officer Jonathan Keefe, SO-2, is facing charges of dereliction of performance of duty and making a false official statement.

Petty Officer Julio Huertas, SO-1, faces those same charges and an additional charge of impediment of an investigation.

Lord, protect our brave troops, suffering under the most despicable CIC in our lifetime... perhaps our history.

May the tormented be in God's peaceful meadows of indescribable beauty and serenity.

Pray for our troops on the frontlines today, forced now to deal with foreign and domestic conflict. St. Michael, be their defender.

The Left is truly rooting for America to lose. The only redeeming quality is that, when Islam takes over America, the first people beheaded will be liberals, sodomites, and/or feminists.

To answer your question, yes, we’re living a Socialist nightmare brought to you by Hussein, Pelosi, Reid and the rest of the corrupt POS that is the US Congress.

Thanks to LucyT for these awesome photos. God Bless Our Troops!

Our Military, NATO soldiers, and locals from Afghanistan.

FYI: Xerox is doing it again this year.

If you go to this web site, www.LetsSayThanks.com you can pick out a thank you card and Xerox will print it and it will be sent to a soldier that is currently serving in Iraq. You can’t pick out who gets it, but it will go to a member of the armed services.

Let’s get everyone we know to send one!! It is FREE and it only takes a second. Please help ensure our heroes receive a bunch of these! The troops need to know we are behind them. This takes just 10 seconds and it’s a wonderful way to say thank you. Please take the time and please take the time to pass it on for others to do. We can never say enough thank you’s.

They should be given a medal for their restraint. One of the Blackwater guys who was butchered was Scott Helvenston, of former SEAL.

Obama’s Nutbar Rules of Engagement:

“If you are in a situation where you are under fire from the enemy... if you don’t know whether you will any create civilian casualties, if you can withdraw from that situation without firing, then you must do so.”

Basically: not allowed to shoot back when under fire.

If you want to treat combat as a law enforcement issue, then send COPS, if you send soldiers then expect them to kill, maim and bash; it’s what they are trained for.

Dead men tell no tales. Why is it that everytime one of these terrorist scumbags points the finger at a US serviceman, that the military automatically presumes the guilt of the servicemen? The troops are not policemen conducting an “arrest”. In the absence of clear intent to inflict serious bodily harm on a captive, charges should not be pursued. The terrorists must be rubbing their hands with glee knowing that all they have to do is make an allegation in order to sideline effective American troops and have them tied up in court martial proceedings.

I had joked when the new rules of engagement started, would our soldiers be charged with assault if a terrrorist were to be shot or something while being captured?

I *WAS* joking. I guess it wasn’t much of a joke. I’m crying now.

Remind me to beat my head against the wall a few times to get some bruises, etc. if I’m ever arrested for anything. With these kinds of shenanigans I’ll not only beat the rap, I’ll be on easy street the rest of my life when I counter-sue.

Not Navy, retired AF, but IMO they made a smart move. Under Non-judicial punishment they have very little in the way of legal protection. They basically confess to the “crime” and are then summarily punished by the commanding officer.

It’s a way of avoiding the court proceedings if it’s not very serious in nature. This sounds like a purely political move on the commanding officer’s part or he may have standing orders that this type of incident be handled.

Any NAVY/MARINE folks are more than welcome to correct my post.
