“We need to get rid of computer based voting machines.”

One would think so...but the trust in computers in our society is SICKENING. Just ask anyone who works in a gas station what happens when someone comes in needing directions because their GPS failed. It is UNREAL.

Here in our little county in WV, about 10 years ago there was an unprecedentedly close election where the not-very-well-known Republican almost upset the Democrat incumbent. The vote was UNofficially a 200 vote margin out of 20,000 paper ballots, but nothing could be declared official until the canvass a week later, followed by a possible call for a recount within 72 hours of the canvass results. This would be expensive (basically paying the salary for 4 courthouse employees for as many days that a recount would take, so several thousand dollars).

Many of us in the local GOP offered to donate money to cover the cost of a recount, but as you would expect, teh candidate refused to challenge the unofficial results so they were duly certified. His excuse was that this was happening during the Bush-Gore recount fiasco in Florida and he didn;t want it to look like the GOP just challenged the votes everywhere "just because" the vote was close. None of us could believe it.

Photo ID and purple thumbs! Why is the United States of America worse than a war-torn 3rd World country when it comes to elections?

Why isn’t the GOP filing suit over this NOW? Investigate and prosecute NOW.

Get this to Rush, Beck, Hannity, Levin, and get the truth out NOW.

A law passed in each state the requires A:)A photo ID to actually vote and B:)That the number of votes cast equal, or is less than, the number of registered voters in that district. If the number is above the number of registered voters, even by one vote, the election must be held again, would go a long way towards mitigating(not eliminating)voter fraud.

Because their candidate wasn't even in the hunt, garnering just enough votes to hand the election to the Democrat.

Frankly, I would be surprised if Republicans weren't part of the election fraud.

The bottom line conclusions of the author:

"...the numbers do not match up, they do not withstand an audit, and they should not be certified by the State."

"In the certified election results from the above districts, where the voting machines appeared to be working properly, the computer-generated vote counts cannot possibly be accurate as they are showing more votes counted than voters...the fault lies with computerized vote counting and our willingness to trust it."

"Electronic vote counting is much too vulnerable to failure and/or manipulation. If a mechanical (lever-style) machine breaks down, the failure is visible, and only the one machine is affected. With electronic vote counting, one person can change the outcome of an election and not leave a trace. This has been shown over and over again in scientific studies, including those commissioned by the Secretaries of State in California and Ohio.

"But more than that, how can we have a democracy if we cannot know if the vote count is accurate? If election officials cannot know, and if the candidates cannot know, and if the voters cannot know that the official results are true and correct, why even have an election? Why go through the motions?

"In New York State, 232 years of election case law pursuant to the state constitution has strongly upheld the requirement that votes be counted visibly, in public view, and the results proclaimed, before the ballots or the lever machines leave the polling place. It has long been understood that vote counting concealed from the public is a crime waiting to happen. Because electronic vote counting is an invisible process, it flies in the face of tradition and case law."

I’m confused. Isn’t this race being contested and in a recount stage or did the DIMS really steal this election?

Great catch. The only thing positive is that this is only a 1 year term. They have to vote again in 2010 and we’ll be watching.

Amen to that!

We've got dead people voting by the hundreds and nobody even questions it? Are you kidding me?

you mean “hundreds” per precinct, right ? Nationwide, I hate to even think what the actual illegal vote might be.

One would think that everyone here knows what the term “undervote” means.

Instead of having the expected 5% undervote (blank ballots for the race in question) ... there was a negative undervote.

for example:
300 voters are checked off as voting
Hoffman gets 160
Owens gets 170

the undervote is -30.

at the very least, there is poor quality assurance.
