Sarah Palin's memoir "Going Rogue" shot to the top of the US bestseller list the week after it was published, easily beating new blockbusters by James Patterson and Stephen King.
According to Nielsen BookScan, with more than half a million copies sold, "Going Rogue: An American Life" has become the highest-selling book in the country.
Mrs Palin ran for vice-president last year on John McCain's losing ticket and is seen as a potential Republican presidential contender in 2012.
She launched the memoir, published November 16 by HarperCollins, with a blitz of media appearances and a political campaign-style book tour.
Her appearance on Oprah Winfrey's talk show last week received huge attention, both contributing to publicity for the book and also boosting Oprah's own ratings - in some markets doubling viewership, Nielsen said.
Mrs Palin's electability remains in dispute, but in the book race she does well against other Washington heavyweights.
First week sale statistics show "Going Rogue" selling 469,000 copies, less than former president Bill Clinton's 2004 memoir, "My Life" at the same period of sales, but just ahead of Hillary Clinton's 2003 "Living History."
"Going Rogue" trounces the performance of President Barack Obama's 2007 "Audacity of Hope" which had sold 67,000 copies a week after publication, Nielsen figures showed.
Other bestsellers published this month within a week of Mrs Palin's memoir include "I, Alex Cross" by Mr Patterson and Mr King's "Under the Dome."

“Mrs Palin’s electability remains in dispute”
Anybody’s electability is in dispute, dinghy.
Isn’t it interesting that with all the publicity that Sarah Palin’s book has received, I have yet to see an American newspaper point out the fact that Palin’s book has vastly outsold 0bama’s book. Matter of fact, The Audacity of Hope, has only sold about 800,000 copies since its release in 2006, total sales for Going Rogue was 700,000 (Nielsen doesn’t count books sold at WalMart, Costco, Target, etc, about 25 to 30 percent of the market) as of last Saturday, so may very well be over 1 million by now, and that’s in just over one week.
Sarah, her book and book tour are going great guns, but its still a long time before 2012. She needs to keep stirring the pot. I wonder was the second act of this drama will be. Any ideas?
Just bought three on Amazon for Christmas presents.

She’s going to unveil a new issues PAC, Stand up for our Nation. I suspect she will travel the country promoting that starting in January. I also suspect that due to the success of Going Rogue, HarperCollins will sign her to another contract for a more philosophical/political book to come out next year. Palin will undoubtedly campaign across the country during the mid-term elections. She’s already scheduled to campaign for Rick Perry in TX in March before the TX primary, and she’s going to be the keynote speaker at the first Tea Party National Convention in Nashville in Feb. She’s going to remain very busy, and will be making the dems and their media minions extremely nervous.

Going Rogue is still #1 at Amazon, the biggest online book dealer, #1 at Barnes and Noble the biggest bookstore chain, #1 at Borders, #1 at Books a Million, and #1 at WalMart.
You know that has to represent some serious numbers.
big BTTT
Mass liberal head explosion will ensue. I’m so happy!
