Just so you know. I’ve been to two teaparties.

The people who went there were political newbies. They are regular people, mostly middle class and fairly non political.

They don’t really care about conservatives, liberals, democrats or republicans. They really don’t care about the litmus test issues of abortion, gay marriage, or 2nd amendment. I think they never heard of CFR or what the acronym stands for.

All they know is something has gone terribly wrong and they are mad about it. They don’t like the schools, the taxes, the crime, the govt. bailouts and they don’t the general decline of civilized society. They are afraid for their jobs and the future for their children, and most of them have children.

If you think the teaparty movement is about right wing conservatism, you are very much mistaken.

Just so you know.

“...They don’t like the schools, the taxes, the crime, the govt. bailouts and they don’t the general decline of civilized society...”

Then they must conservatives even if they don’t know it. I haven’t seen any Troskyists at Tea Parties. Either we advocate the conservative side and mark out a clearly defined difference from the Demo Party or we stand for nothing or become just complainers without a solution.

We can be big tent enough to link up with Ronald Reagan Republicans, Larry McDonald conservatives, Jesse Helms Republicans, and Sarah Palin Republicans.

Just so you know I’ve been to at least a hundred tea parties, maybe more. Haven’t seen a single socialist at any of them. And no one pushing abortion rights, gay rights, global warming, healthcare, big government, gun control or amnesty. And you are correct. They are not right wing nuts. Just everyday patriotic freedom loving traditional mostly Christian conservative Americans like you and me. And they are pissed! And they all want their freedom back!

Similar to FreeRepublic, I would think the tea party movement is about individual rights and liberties and common sense.

What part that do you think is too out-there-on-the-rightwing? and what part of that do you think is not part of the tea party movement?

The people of whom you speak, non-political Americans showing up at tea parties because they are mad as hell, will be happy under a conservative leader because they will be given true CHOICE again in their lives, and freedom to control their destinies.

They may not feel affiliated to a party or a movement, but it’s what the candidate says that will move them to vote, and a conservative candidate will say the right things.

The only Americans who won’t “do better” under a conservative President / Congress are the ones who only want to take handouts. And those people wouldn’t be at a teaparty anyway.

In case you haven't noticed, the Tea Parties were about an end to ever-expanding government taking more and more of our money and freedom, while ignoring the express wishes of most of the people in favor of a vapid liberal-light Kumbaya moment with the Dems.

By definition conservatism is what these people are seeking, even if they don't know enough to call it such.

Cheers!

Just so you know.

Sarah Palin will be the main attraction at what's being billed as the "First National Tea Party Convention."

Tea Party Nation announced Wednesday that last year's Republican vice presidential candidate will serve as keynote speaker for the conference, scheduled to take place in Nashville, Tennessee February 4-6. A representative for Palin has confirmed the former Alaska governor's speaking role at the gathering.

I’ve been to 4 Teaparty events and have found the TP folks to be 1st and foremost proud to be Americans. The politics are generally not their #1 priority until recently but I was similarly apolitical before 911 woke me up. The Tea Party movement has only reinforced my appreciation for our fellow citizens and their Minute Man awakening!!!

My experience at tea party events has been somewhat different from yours. People I spoke to were very clear on 2nd amendment support and pro-life support. I have not run into any liberal or Democrat tea party attendees. Some call themselves Republicans, some independents, some libertarians, some constitutionalists, but what I heard was a strong anti-liberal, anti-leftist, anti-Democrat sentiment.

At Tea Parties I wear a Palin 2012 shirt and I get countless, positive comments on it. People have asked to be photographed next to me (because of the shirt).

Sarah Palin is the personification of the beliefs, values, and hopes of those attending the Tea Party events.

You continue on though, with your (not so) subtle smearing of this grand lady.

Also, no surprise at all that you don't care 'one way or the other' about the unborn.

You make some good points.

Conservatives need to be able to communicate to these people..one on one, to educate and make that connection.

Their values are there. They need help getting away from the Left’s stereotyping of the conservative.

Conservatism is by definition normal thinking and normal living. Everything else, in one form or another, is just made-up lies.

“right wing conservatism.” Yeah, right. The biggest theme I’ve seen at tea parties is “OBEY THE DAMNED CONSTITUTION.” These days that’s pretty right wing.

But since a cursory examination of your posting history shows you have expressed contempt for, among others, Antonin Scalia, Sarah Palin, JD Hayworth, Tom Tancredo and Alan Keys - and I didn’t go back more than 2 pages - I don’t think you’re much of a fan of ANY type of conservative - “right wing” or otherwise.
