IT will be interesting when she starts spelling out details on the issues that conservatives claim are important.

I remember when I first decided the Fred Thompson for President movement was serious, and I presumed he’d never be accepted here at FR, since the major complaint against John McCain was his support of Campaign Finance Reform, and Thompson was a major player with CFR.

However, it turned out that with Fred that wasn’t such a big deal — so I know that conservatives can and do measure candidates they like by a reasonable expectation standard rather than a perfection standard.

The perfection standard is simply an easy way out of discussing issues for a candidate you don’t like.

That doesn’t explain Bobby Jindall though...

The first and most important issue is Life. Must be pro-life. They could score 100% on every other scal, but if they’ve got life wrong, then they are a clandestine Rino or a Rino-in-the-making.

No excuses. No exceptions. Ever.

At this point, that makes Sarah Palin the frontrunner.

I hope she'll reclaim the mantle that was dropped, I don't know, 60-70 years ago and focus on individual rights, as opposed to the 'collective' rights consensus that has put us where we are today.

The 'reasonable' standard vs. 'perfection' standard is a good observation. Sarah will no doubt disappoint some (I hope it's not on immigration) but the thrust of her personna seems to be aimed at keeping government in check and more self-reliance on issues such as energy.

Trying to shrink government into a more efficient operation, developing energy resources to feed our economy will both be huge undertakings and critical ones that may be beyond the scope of any mortal. Certainly more important to this Republic than re-inventing Health Care.

Sarah has some experience with energy and may know a thing or two about government fat. But what she needs is an Army of like-mindeds to back her up in the house and senate if any of this is to happen. That's where tossing RINOS and dems overboard comes in and it becomes our responsibilty to deliver a new and motivated crew.

For too long we have acquiesced to the socialization of our country and the diminution of our rights (pick an ammendment, any ammendment) where our country looks nothing at all like what was envisioned.

That's a heck of a tribute to one's ancestors who actually knew more then, than we know now. Imagine Thomas Jefferson in a room of today's conservatives to give a lecture and the scathing remarks they would hear and the tounge lashing they would recieve.

Teetering on the edge of what has to be one of the greatest socialist take-overs of our time- our healthcare system- his advice to everyone in the room would be to revolt, to mount-up, and seize the capitol. Some already have, and some did on 9/12. We need everyone on board as our nation's life may depend upon it.

Fire in the belly understates what will be needed of a leader in charge of this task. My money right now in on a barracuda. They strike fast, hit hard, and Lord only knows, the battle ahead requires such skill and precision. We've got a war going on here at home boys and girls, and there'd better not be any ballot-stuffing going on in '10 or '12 or things could get ugly real fast.
