WASHINGTON: This time, the picture is the story. After the Secret Service insisted that US president Barack Obama was never endangered by a security breach that allowed a couple to crash his first state dinner, the White House has released a photo showing that not only did the pair get close to Obama, they actually shook hands and talked to him.
The revelation underscored the seriousness of the security breach and prompted an abject apology from the Secret Service.
A White House spokesman said that the couple, Michaele and Tareq Salahi of Virginia, met and shook hands with the president and the first lady in the receiving line in the Blue Room, as the Obamas greeted each of their 400 invited guests on Tuesday night before moving to a tent on the South Lawn for dinner. That disclosure coincided with a statement from the director of the Secret Service, Mark Sullivan, saying that his agency was “deeply concerned and embarrassed” by the events. Secret Service officials said the agency wanted to interview everyone connected with the episode, including the Salahis, and had not ruled out criminal charges.
Secret Service on Friday acknowledged that its officers never checked whether the two were on the guest list before letting them onto the White House grounds. The Salahis were not on the guest list and should have been barred from entering last Tuesday’s dinner on the White House South Lawn for the Prime Minister of India, said Sullivan.
“Although these individuals went through magnetometers and other levels of screening, they should have been prohibited from entering the event entirely,” Sullivan said. “That failing is ours.”
Why buy ceramic, when a utensil or a broken glass would do? I watched a “former SS agent” on Fox news, explain that it was embarrassing, but there was no danger....BS, plenty of danger, and they had better fix it. The very worst thing that could happen is if our President is assassinated while in office. Everything I hate him for, would then be encoded in stone for all eternity.

I say give the Secret Service the funding and training they need to do their jobs right.... I bet congress lowered the funding for them.... and the Secret Service agents who do their jobs well should all get a pay rise.
Good points. Sounds to me like they’re under a whole lot of stress. Too many things going wrong and these are just what we’ve heard about.

This kind of stuff is what the media lives for, which is more than unsettling. Is Obama of more value to them alive, or... ? I am reminded of the Pali propaganda machine that will happily use Pali children as martyers for the cameras. After all, it's been 46 years since JFK, and Dallas really has been milked for all it's worth. An Obama tragedy would breathe new life into the dying MSM, so their loyalties are obviously divided. Not to mention that every public school child would be force-fed all Obama all the time. As bad as it is now, they would know nothing else except how to worship the martyred usurper. ~ shudder ~

I’m with you, Muggs. I smell a big fat rat. These two social climbers had help getting in, probably from WH staffers. Still haven’t figured out the end game, though. Is it merely to distract us from the real goings-on in the world? Iran has just given us the finger for about the 5th time since Obama took office and the IAEA has thrown up its hands. After three motorcade accidents and this incident (which the press and everyone else is making WAY too much of - the most violent these people could become is angrily sending back an order of overcooked swordfish at Morton’s), perhaps Obama will declare his lack of confidence in the SS and give the job to someone else - ACORN?
I'm not an Obama fan - but Obama's President of the United States and the SS needs to protect him - and his family and his guests. This is an outrage.
