throw under the bus: to sacrifice some other person, usually one who is undeserving or at least vulnerable, to make personal gain.

One is thrown under the bus when they are made the scapegoat or blamed for something that wasn't their responsibility in the first place. A coverup for your mistake.

Clearly this WAS her mistake. It would appear that Obama is throwing the Secret Service "under the bus". It's not possible for him to throw her "under the bus" in these circumstances.

You have to wonder if Major Malik Nadal Hasan was a friend on theirs as they seem to both have some Palestinian linkage and that Tareq was a member of a group supporting the Palestinian cause that Obama had been involved with in the past.

My guesss is that he was an invited guess that when the Whitehouse realized the guy was questionable it was too late he was at the event.
