Gilad Shalit must be the son of one big, important, individual for Israel to work so hard and so long on getting him back. Don’t take me wrong, he should be returned and I hope he is......but who is he?

What you are witnessing here is a difference in cultures. In the US, most don't give a sh*t about our troops, unless of course you are or were one. In Israel, almost all of us serve. When one soldier gets hit, we all feel it .........
And I agree with another poster here - don't get taken by Arabs. I hold the IDF part to blame for this, but then again no one expected a tunnel to be dug under your position. Memories of Vietnam ;>
