A few days ago, we told you how in 2001, golfer Jesper Parnevik and his wife introduced their nanny, Elin Nordegren, to an up-and-coming young go-getter by the name of Tiger Woods. With all the revelations of late, seems Jesper isn't particularly happy with how Tiger has handled his marriage.
"I feel really sorry for Elin," he told The Golf Channel on Wednesday. "I would be especially sad about it since I'm kind of ... I really feel sorry for Elin, since me and my wife were at fault for hooking her up with him.
We probably thought he was a better guy than he is. I would probably need to apologize to her and hope she uses a driver next time instead of the 3-iron."
*snip*
"It's a private thing, of course. But when you are the guy he is, the world's best athlete, you should think more before you do stuff. . . And maybe not just do it, like Nike says."
*snip*
Parnevik clearly is personally wounded by Woods' "transgressions," so it's understandable that he'd tee off on Tiger.
It's not likely we'll see other golfers criticize Woods openly; why would they? Most of Woods' fellow players, as noted here, have expressed support for Elin and her children, regret that Woods made poor choices, and hope that the Woods family will be able to get past this drama.
Most have noted the microscope that all celebrities live under; left unsaid was the point that perhaps one ought to remember that microscope doesn't just focus on good behavior.

Um. Ick.
I think the senior guys include Bernhard, Fred Funk and another fellow. They are very active. The PGA and players donate a lot to charity. As you said - I am sure they are not happy about this.
Jasper is a bit of a character in a good way.

YOu have made some good points.
Jesper is Elin's friend so he can make it his business. Tiger should have kept his zipper up then he wouldn't be in the spot light looking like the fool.
Gold Digging? She's not a cocktail waitress but a model and she's use to a higher caliber of men and not some ordinary shlub from the streets.
I think it might be better to look at Tiger Wood’s status as a great athlete in more than just physical prowess terms. Without him golf drops to a footnote in the sports panthoen. If he declines an invitation tournaments close down. If he’s not playing on Sunday ratings plummet. And his win percentage is staggering. Only a few Olympic athletes could compare and they are playing against a much smaller pool of participants. How many people play golf compared to the number of competetive or even recreational swimmers or track and field participants?
Do you know what baby seals and tiger woods have in common?

Tiger woods can drive a golf ball 400 yards without hitting a tree.
Common it’s your turn... there’s gotta be a lot more of these around :-)
Very few, for the same reason there aren't many quadriplegic muggers. They're just not that good at it.
Golf had strong following for decades before the Tiger phenomenon, not on the scale of football or baseball and it still doesn't, but none the less when he is gone from the scene it will continue to be played by many.
To contend he is THE driving force behind the game and without him it will all but disappear is silly at best.
He’s the world’s greatest athlete in terms of generating revenue and, in businesses - particularly golf, that’s more important than actual physical prowess.
Besides, the real reason for TigerWorship(tm) is because JackWorship(tm) had run its course and the relationship between the PGA and corporate America needed a new messiah. Greg Norman kept coughing up hairballs in major tournaments.
Thats a very good point. i doubt if these two met on average circumstances the outcome would have been the same. People who are truly in love dont start cheating on eachother ever and certainly not that soon! Its proof that their marriage wasnt the most genuine.
