Well that is definitely something to think about.

I’ve known April. She has been at the White House now for more than 10 years and is a character. She may be pushy, but she isn’t stupid. You can’t be stupid and last long as a White House correspondent. The view at the White House —at least at the Clinton White House— was that April needed to be coddled. this is apparently the view at the Obama White House, as well, hence Gibbs’ unfortunate comparison to a petulant child. This is a mistake.
My personal view — Desiree Rogers did something to dis April somewhere along the way, and this is partial payback. Nevertheless, I believe her questions were valid, and I was happy for once to see SOMEONE stand up to Robert Gibss, asking a LEGITIMATE question. Would that the rest of them would do it, and in the same manner.

As for the racial angle, Gibbs is a clueless nitwit, but I think he would have said the same to a white asking the same way. The reporter-doing her job or not, was somewhat rude as well.
If the shoe had been on the other foot,(white reporter/black press secretary) you have to wonder how it would have played out—many blacks, for all their endless talk of “respect” are often extraordinarily disrespectful and rude to others—just like the endless talk of “keepin’ it real” seems to often be, in actuality, a prelude to lying and double talk.
