Comcast CEO endorses Senate health bill

The chairman of Comcast endorsed the Senate health care bill in a letter Thursday to President Barack Obama, saying, "We cannot allow perfection to stand in the way of critically needed and very good legislation."

"While there has been much controversy and debate over hundreds of provisions and alternatives, it is my view that the current legislation pending in the Senate provides a workable framework for this country to take an important step toward enhancing health care accessibility, promoting operational efficiencies and technological innovation, and reducing the cost of health care and the federal deficit," CEO and Chairman Brian Roberts wrote.

Roberts said he intended to make his statement in person Thursday at the White House jobs summit but could not make it because of his company's $30 billion merger announcement with NBC Universal.

Corporate America loves this bill because it will undercut rising medium size companies poised to compete with them ten years from now. This is the same logic they used when Clinton proposed mandatory daycare at workplace. The more regs the government can create in the name of children and etc, the more hurdles are thrown in front of medium size companies.

Quid pro quo. He wants Feds to sign off on his plan to purchase NBC. There are all ready rumblings on the Left that that concentrates too much media in Comcast hands and should be blocked by Fed Regulators.

He is merely buying favor at the King 0's Court

Wonder if this endorsement had anything with the merger being allowed?

Bing! Bing! Bing! We have a winner!

No doubt he is also a flaming Leftist but the reason he is doing this now is to buy political favor when the regulators decide if Comcast can buy NBC.

Comcast is making sure it’s going to be a big part of the NWO. Unknown to most is its association with community organizer City Year.

“...partnership to carry throughout 2010 at a cash and in-kind value of more than $50 million. Most importantly, Comcast is the proud sponsor of six Comcast City Year teams across the country.”

Sounds like a good time to take a look at some satellite providers. I hate Comcast anyway.

They constantly spam horrible commercials on many of their channels. The commercials have a ‘smug’ feel to them. You can tell the people writing them believe the viewers are a bunch of gullible dumb asses.

I understand this is a JV and GE will still retain 49% ownership in NBC.

Goodbye Comcast!

Hello Uverse or satellite dish.

You must recognize, the elites DESERVE this wealth because of the burden they’ve assumed in caring for us. Afterall, they KNOW better, after accomplishing little more than patting themselves on the back. Us prols shuld be thankful they exist, to guide us and lead us even though they’ve accomplished little themselves outside the their little contained circle of marxist purity.

Dear Brian Roberts,

Just to let you know, we have more than enough rope for you as well.

This is why I believe big business is just as corrupt as big government and, as we have seen recently, often virtually one and the same.

Regardless of what some "conservatives" think, I believe CEOs like this are just as much an enemy of the people as avowed one-world socialists like Soros.

I fully expect Comcast to pull NBC from DirecTV and Dish Network. They have already done it with Versus, and here in Oregon, Comcast is trying to charge all national satellite subscribers to carry their Oregon network (which is the only way to see Blazer games). As it is now, 50% of the state and 40% of the Portland area is unable to watch all but a handful of games.
