The State University of New York at Buffalo won $390,000 to study young adults who drink malt liquor and smoke marijuana. The National Institutes of Health got $219,000 in funds to study whether female college students are more likely to “hook up” after drinking alcohol.

Half a million dollars went to Arizona State University to study the genetic makeup of ants to determine distinctive roles in ant colonies; $450,000 went to the University of Arizona to study the division of labor in ant colonies.

Yes, but how many ant jobs were created or saved by that stimulus expenditure? Maybe I can find the answer on recovery.gov.

5% for infrastructure. Pure bait and switch. They promise bridges and you get puppet shows.

A road was fixed in my area that wasn't in need of repair. It had a fancy sign with Economic Recovery Act on it and such. About 3/4 mile of road that was in decent condition was repaved and some sidewalks and curbs repaired. Wheelchair access (mostly used by bicycles)was added at one intersection. There was nothing wrong or at least this road was not in need of repair. I drive this road on a very regular basis and I can say that this was a big waste of money. Yes it looks a little nicer than it did but in times like this, a repair job like this was a foolish use of money in my opinion.

too bad they weren’t concerned about wasteful spending when they were in a position to do something about it
