Big national implications as Coakley and Brown square off for Kennedy's US Senate seat

As most of you know, Tuesday's primary election to fill Ted Kennedy's US Senate seat wasn't much of a stunner. Both frontrunners won. In the Democratic primary Attorney General Martha Coakley beat out three other candidates with 47%, and State Senator Scott Brown got 89% against Jack E. Robinson.

Coakley and Brown will face each other in the general election January 19. This race has huge implications, both locally and nationally.

The kind of representation we get in the US Senate could hardly be different.Coakley is even more radically left-wing across the board than Ted Kennedy, if that's possible. Her long record of aggressive anti-family positions and activities is breathtaking. Scott Brown is a pretty decent conservative (though not completely pro-life) who has mainstream positions (including pro-traditional marriage) and doesn't back down to left-wing pressure and intimidation.

Most people in Massachusetts have no knowledge of the extent of Coakley's radical-left anti-family, pro-abortion, pro-homosexual record. That certainly needs to change.

But from a national standpoint, this REALLY could make a difference. Scott Brown would replace the 60th Democratic vote in the US Senate which is needed to stop a filibuster. This would effectively stop the tidal wave of hideous Obama legislation, starting from the health care bill (if that's still being debated then). This is a big deal for the entire country.

We hope that the Brown campaign takes advantage of this and hammers the voters here about how their lives will be changed - even ruined - if the Left's agendas are allowed to run rampant.

Do the Republicans have the guts to run the kind of aggressive campaign this will require? We'll see.

Let's just hope that none of John McCain's national campaign staff is allowed anywhere near here!

Most people in Massachusetts have no knowledge of the extent of Coakley's radical-left anti-family, pro-abortion, pro-homosexual record.

Or her 'see no evil' with regard to all of the democratic criminality on Beacon Hill. If it wasn't for the feds, Dianne Wilkerson would still be stuffing cash up her bra.

Or the name 'Amirault'. Martha's handling of that case -- sending innocent people to jail (and an early death for one) -- is beyond reprehensible. There are a lot of voters in their 30s who are unaware of this case.

How well will she play in liberal mass?
I still wonder why she did not show up in orange co ca for her book tour. OC is very conservative. I would have gone.

” Most people in Massachusetts have no knowledge of the extent of Coakley’s radical-left anti-family, pro-abortion, pro-homosexual record. That certainly needs to change. “

I’m not so sure, considering that it’s Massachusetts, that I would want most people to know of her radical left ... etc.
These are the voters that year after year put teddy back in office.

Maybe there’s a light at the end of the long liberal tunnel that is Massachusetts...

The people there have had a good taste of gov’t run health care - and it tastes rotten.

Just maybe they won’t want to take on the same thing from the Federal gov’t...

This may be the thing that saves us. And I wonder if this isn’t why reedy and all are in such a panic to get this behemoth passed? Maybe their internal poll aren’t looking good in Mass.

Brown may be the horseshoe nail we need to stop the RATS!

We need to all send support and email the GOP and demand they give him bags of money.

Massachusetts has been a one party communist state for a long time. Seems like a long shot, but if a Republican wins there, they can win anywhere. Even a close race would scare the crap out of the Dims.

Not related to the Kennedy dynasty.

You can only hope that enough of the libtards up there will vote for him thinking they’re getting another of the whelps from Hyannisport.

That's a silly headline,IMO.There are no truly serious implications surrounding this race. This is Massachusetts. The voters of this state have, over the last 15+ years, consistently voted for the filtiest, dirtiest, utterly amoral individuals to send to DC.

Coakley will win.She will win with at *least* two-thirds of the vote. And in the Senate she will be at least as dirty...at least as amoral....as Teddy,John F'ing Kerry,Dukakis and friends ever dreamed of being.

*Serious* implications? In a way I guess you could say that.*Surprising* implications? Don't make me laugh!

If all of us would contribute to Brown’s candidacy and if we could pull that one off, it would be an earthquake in the Democrat party. PLEASE contribute to him. Let’s start the revolution in Mass. The Tea Party was first in Boston. Let’s have a Tea Party in Boston again.
