Maybe so, but Poland is very sensitive to charges of antisemitism, and lack of sensitivity to the Holocaust, that they probably wanted to make it clear that this was a top priority.

Yeah, obviously it’s unfortunate that this historical artifact has been stolen, but ‘state of emergency’?! Come on, it’s a metal sign. I’m sure that (even) Polish craftsmen could make a replacement replica in few hours.

That sign is a reminder of cruelty and thousands of lost human lives. It’s recovery warrants top priority.
