afaik the navy doesn’t use drones, they were launched from DDGs

Or Submarines. But they are in effect drones. Besides which the Navy does use UAVs. Launched from DDGs, CGs, even the Iowa class BBs when they were still in commission. Some are helicopter type drones. Here's one first deployed in 1963.

Here is a Pioneer drone being recovered aboard the Iowa.

Does the USN deploy modern UAVs, capable of firing cruise missles?

Good point on the submarines.
