Xactly. There are more American indians alive today than we the first European settler got here, and they are richer too, and better off in every respect. Those who want to go live in tents are free to do so. They just aren't free to practice slow torture as their leading form of public entertainment. But not to worry. We have this crap, instead...

The only thing worse than falling captive to the Comanche men was to fall captive to the Comanche women. The tortures they inflicted on their enemies included burying them up to their necks beside ant colonies, or cutting away the soles of a captive's feet and making them run behind horses.

The Comanche was the ultimate "terrorist", and after a few decades the US learned exactly how to deal with them. That solution was known as the "Texas Rangers", who constantly stayed on the offensive.

It's a shame we didn't take that lesson to heart.
