He who sacrifices freedom for security deserves neither. Full body scanners should only be used if there are mitigating circumstances, such as a person who sets off the metal detectors or who pays for his ticket in cash, is on a watch list or who doesn’t have a passport. Forcing people who do not fit any profile to submit to what is essentially a computerized strip search is beyond the pale.

Oh, and as for your trite little comment above, some people have already purchased tickets, unrefundable tickets, to fly in the future. Herding American citizens who are not threats to anyone through these scanners does NOT insure safety.

Do you drive? Ride in other people’s cars? You might get in a wreck and die. How come you’re willing to personally take that risk, but are perfectly willing to disregard other people’s rights for some perceived idea of “safety” on an airplane?
