Originally the slot machines in maryland were supposed to go into Horse race tracks, but the State screwed thing up so badly none of the tracks would contract to take them.
Stronach screwed this up, not the state. Because they were in bankruptcy and short of funds, the track submitted a bid for the slots WITHOUT the accompanying payment that the state required with the bid, so the track's bid was tossed and the slots will go to the next high bidder, some shopping mall. MD will be lucky to keep The Preakness at Pimlico and a very short season of TB racing and Laurel may close because of Magna Entertainment's faux pas.
