He's just being, um... uh... "neo-biblical." Yeah, that's the ticket -- a Neo-Biblical mano-d-kloth. He's simply building on Paul's riff -- that business about being "a Greek with the Greeks, and a Jew with the Jews" has now been improved by the simple addition of "and a Muslim with the Muslims."
You can't get more neo-biblical than that! ;)
