Those commercials irritate the hell out of me, especially the one where the “man of the house” runs back into the bedroom and shuts the door. That’s his whole plan for protecting his family? The burglar just busted through an exterior door; how long is it going to take him to get through an interior door? The one with the woman and little girl in the back yard isn’t any better. Who really sets their alarm every time they walk into the house?

My alarm system has a 1 minute delay that allows you to disarm it. I could never figure why the ads on TV had the response time being instantaneous.
Either way by the time the guy wakes up at the alarm companies office gets on the line with you and then calls the cops the guys has cleaned out half your house and is working on sloppy seconds on the women folk.

Those alarms are good for alerting you to a break-in so you can go shoot the guy.

Good point - and when the burglar saw the mom and little girl in the back yard - why didn’t he just enter the house from the other side. Why did he “wait” for them to go inside?
