A 12 Step Program for Destroying a National Party – A Handbook by Michael Steele
American Daily Review ^ | 01/08/2010 | Yomin Postelnik

Posted on 01/08/2010 12:21:51 AM PST by Leah at A Better Florida

At this time in history, the Republican Party, the only true mechanism that has the strength to defeat Obama socialism, should be polling at over 60% in the polls. But thanks to the collision course set in motion by Chairman Steele, we likely won’t have a united party in six months from now. That’s not a joke or even a hunch. It’s a sad reality stemming from the shocking buffoonery of a chairman who has displayed a level of ineptitude that is unprecedented at any time in American politics.

The foremost role of a party chairman is to organize and steadily grow an enthusiastic base of supporters. Michael Steele is a nice enough man for the job. He’s cordial, likeable and energetic. But his tenure at the helm of the GOP has been as follows: Michael Steele has lost thousands of lifelong RNC members by way of unheard of fundraising tactics that defy incredulity, he’s lowered morale and dampened volunteerism by becoming the only public voice to declare the GOP the losers of the 2010 election cycle, he’s failed to enact a single new method of outreach (which didn’t stop him from destroying already existing ones), he’s constantly beat a drumbeat of blame against every leading Republican in the nation and he showers every senior Democrat with accolades whenever the opportunity arises to do so.

In short, Michael Steele is a nice man. And he’s as hapless as he is incompetent on the political stage. And he’s got to go.

I agree that Steele has got to go.

Steele needs to step down. Hopefully, he will have the grace and wisdom to do just that. We are on the verge of a political tsunami and we need a leader to guide us thru it. Please Mr. Steele, exercise good judgment and do what is best for our country now.

I can’t believe Steele’s rotten performance in the job. He’s black, and to the Left, that’s like invisible armor. He could have been the pitbull our party needs, with that to shield him from their attacks. Instead he’s done nothing useful I can name. A pox upon him.

I also agree that he has to go. I hope they don’t put Newt in as replacement...although, one would hope that he learned a quick lesson after his stupidity in his support for Dede Scozzafava.

I used to always hear this in corporate America when it became glaringly obvious that the guy they hired for the top management slot was just not up to the job: “Well, he interviewed very well!”. Some of these people should never have made it out of the parts room.

Well said. The article mentions:

“Lesson learned, Michael Steele. If we Republicans had ignored style over substance, we’d have been led by a brilliant tactician like Saul Anuzis, a great organizer like Katon Dawson or a deep thinking like Ken Blackwell. Next time we choose the telegenic one, we may as well go with “Chairman” Conan O’Brien, so that our party can at least get some favorable one liners on late night TV. Lesson learned, Mr. Chairman. At least we still have a chance to fix it.”

So Anuzis, Blackwell or Dawson - all good.

Conan’s not looking bad either next to Mike.

"I hope they don’t put Newt in as replacement..."

Dick Cheney, John Bolton, Sarah Palin, B-1 Bob Dornan, Sheriff Joe Arpaio . . .

Newt is far less stupid than Steele.

Not that that is necessarily impressive.

"Newt is far less stupid than Steele."

Newt's American Solutions for Winning the Future has been organizing grass roots for years now. He has raised a lot of money for a lot of groups. Quite the organization man.

Wonder how large his e-mail list is?

Resign?

He’s already playing the race card and telling his critics to “shut up”

There is no mechanism to fire him either, the RNC is a nest of incompetent country clubbers and Washingtonians

It must be purged wholesale.

It's only partly him. The Stupid Party has not produced any statement of principles, etc. like the Contract With America; appears to be wandering aimlessly in search of a thought, and failing utterly.

I'm not impressed w/ the Stupid Party on the local level, either. They don't get it.

Agreed.

However the people that make up the party are still conservative. The party doesn’t vote the people do.

Donate, when the time comes, to the politician of your choice, not the party. It will be squandered on Steeles relatives.

Go Sarah.

Steele is an absolute moron and a disaster.....and a Liberal, too. If the GOP does not remove Steele in the next 2 months....it pretty much means the GOP is throwing the election to the Democrats.

Even scarier is that you have faux-cons like Mark Levin and Sean Hannity shilling for Steele and his new book.....so much for that “Liberty and Tyranny”...huh Levin? More like Liberalism and Treason....

“Donate, when the time comes, to the politician of your choice, not the party. It will be squandered on Steeles relatives.”

EXACTLY! Whenever I get a survey from the RNC, I check off the questions but on the bottom (you know the part of the survey that asks for donations) I write a message on the form that basically says: “Until there are no more RINO’s and until the party gets back on a Regan-like conservative path, I WILL NOT donate to the party but only to specific candidates that I fit to actually vote for...”

And I have donated directly to such a candidate. BTW, I haven’t received a survey lately (had received 3 or 4 in the fall)....coincidence? I wonder?

The RNC needs new leadership ASAP! Steele needs to go!

The Republicans merely matched the affirmative action hire the country made with one of their own.

If obama doesn’t kill affirmative action forever the country may have too many idiots to ever be successful again.

Steele has got to go. The results of the current prospects of the GOP speak loudly, regardless of his damage control spin. He will have chaired the party into it’s most abysmal positioning in an election year that I’ve ever seen.
