Our president 'just wants to get away' (So Leave Already!)

Yesterday, Barack Obama was called to task by the Washington Post for his lack of availability to answer questions following the Christmas Day terrorist attack of Northwest Flight 253.

While the president has read from a number of prepared statements regarding the incident over the past two weeks, he hasn't bothered to hold a forum in which the media could pose direct questions about it to him.

The Post is rightfully dismayed and calls his cowardice towards the matter, "unfortunate". It is unfortunate and unfortunately, this isn't the first time the president has acted like he was on the set of a Southwest Airlines commercial.

In September, while tens of thousands marched on the streets of Washington D.C. to demonstrate their opposition towards the president's domestic agenda, Obama hopped on a plane and escaped from the nation's capital. Apparently, it was more important to deliver a speech at a health-care rally in front of a mere 15,000 adoring supporters in the friendlier confines of Minneapolis's Target Center than it was to attempt to win the support of some of his naysayers.

Nearly two months later, just days following Nidal Malik Hasan's terrorist attack on Fort Hood, Obama hit the tarmac--fresh off an embarrassing display of insensitivity concerning the issue--for a little "much-needed" R&R at Camp David, while his predecessor quietly went to the grief-stricken army base to console the victims.

And most recently, in the aftermath of the aforementioned Northwest Flight 253, Obama displayed immediate interest in the well-being of a friend's child involved in a beach accident, but made the entire nation, which was searching for some leadership from its commander-in-chief, wait 72 hours before he reluctantly interrupted his vacation to deliver a statement.

The problem is, more often than not Obama is the guy who wants to get away when he has to deal with the difficult tasks that come with the territory of being President of the United States. It is further unfortunate that a media organization like the Post is just now realizing it.

There would be laughs abound if the president was instead the guy from the commercial who stupidly threw the video game controller at the television, but there's nothing funny about watching Obama's performance thus far which has been unbecoming of the president of the most powerful nation in the world. Now its citizens want to get away, but instead of catching a flight, we'll cast a ballot.

I think that a more accurate characterization would be "hundreds of thousands", if not "in excess of a million".

Obama wants to be “king”, he's not interested in governing, he wants the perks, and recognition. He's the worst kind of politician.... makes me miss Bush everyday.

How can one man “deserve” so much Vacation Time? It seems like every other week he’s off on some vacation or another.

Surely the use of Air Force One and the Secret Service for personal vacation purposes is a “Taxable Benefit” — I wonder if he is paying tax on that. If he isn’t, perhaps he should.

I'd like him to go away too. 2012 can't come soon enough.

Full time jobs are an alien concept to the Left.

It must be incredibly tough on him, having a real job for a whole year straight. I mean, can any of us imagine what that would be like?

He just HAD a vacation. And that was after spending almost the entire month of December throwing parties in the White House, to a total of more than 50,000 guests.

Well, I suppose that must have been pretty tiring. But it was hardly in the service of our country. (I would have said “his country,” but I don’t believe it is.)

"Now its citizens want to get away, but instead of catching a flight, we'll cast a ballot. "

Actually, "away" is the best place to have obama, as he contributes nothing in the form of leadership when he is present.

"Present" seems to be a theme for this guy, we even call him the "pres_ent" on the forum because he has no "ID". As a junior senator, about all he did was vote "present".

He really doesn't need to say anything else, as actions speak louder than words; he has shown us his mettle, or lack thereof, and to try and explain it away now would only amplify his phoniness.

I guess no one explained that when you become "President", it is a life-altering job. You will always be "President" for the rests of your life. You will always be guarded by SS and you're movement will be restricted. It's part of the job...you sign up for life.

Fame has its price, and loss of privacy is one of those prices. If he wanted to be tempermental, he should have been one of those pouty, bad boy rap artists.

He wanted to be president for just some of the people, and to get his hands on the money and power to carry out his radical agenda. Other than that, he acts like this job is actually too much trouble for him.

The world is no longer swooning, the frost is off the pumpkin...reality has set in, and like most EEO products, that's the part that is no longer "fun".

But when you're the president, you can run but you can't hide.

That could be taken a couple of ways

Anything that deviates from his desire to implement his Marxist Policies on the American People is not worth much of his time..

Republicans would be smart to contrast the amount of direct access he has given the media regarding Govt Health Care Socialist takeover with the amount of time he has given on the number 1 job of any President and that is keeping Americans safe from terror attacks....

Obviously Obama would have delayed his vacation to Hawaii to get a deal on Healthcare but wouldn’t cut it short to deal with a terror attack..

Very telling indeed.

It’s hard to miss President Bush.

His lack of leadership on any issue other than terrorism is why we have a President Obama.

Shrug. The media has no one to blame but itself. They elevated 0bama to being higher than Jesus Christ and now they expect him to act like a mere mortal?

Perhaps if they expend the barrels of ink and the years of airtime they devoted to bringing down the country when Bush was president to 0bama instead, then perhaps he might make some time to address those peasants.
