One person has died after Kenyan police fired live rounds at supporters of a Jamaican-born Muslim cleric notorious for preaching racial hatred.

Faisal is in detention in Nairobi after Kenya failed to deport him.

Kenya wants to expel him citing his "terrorist history". He was jailed for four years in the UK for soliciting the murder of Jews and Hindus.

Faisal was born Trevor William Forrest in St James, Jamaica - though he left the island 26 years ago, initially living in the UK.

His parents were Salvation Army officers and he was raised as a Christian.

But at the age of 16 he went to Saudi Arabia - where he is believed to have spent eight years - and became a Muslim.

He took a degree in Islamic Studies in the Saudi capital of Riyadh, before coming back to the UK.

Faisal spent years travelling the UK preaching racial hatred urging his audience to kill Jews, Hindus and Westerners.

Yeah, too bad it’s not allowed in the U.S.

Rangel, Waters, Frank, Clyburn, Schumer, Obama’s, Jackson, Sharpton, the black caucus, black panthers, Rev. Wright, why do these names come to mind?

I was in a building that was overlooking Jamia mosque, where the fracas occured, for some investment meetings in Kenya (I manage a frontier fund in several emerging/frontier markets in Africa), and saw the whole thing from start to finish. After the prayers at the mosque, there were these guys who started using a megaphone to call the worshippers. They all then started chanting and stuff, to which point the riot police (who were aware that the folks wanted to demonstrate) moved in to quell things before they went too far. Alright, at which point the muslims, who had carried stones in backpacks, started to throw them. The cops returned fire using teargas. That continued for some time until the anti-riot armored vehicle showed up and started using its water cannon to drive back the muslims. By the way, any time it seemed the muslims would be overwhelmed they would run back to the safety of the mosque. Anyways, the water cannon was sweeping the muslims off their feet, and I think the cops had had enough because they sprayed the water straight into the mosque (I recorded that scene on my video phone ...quite interesting, and I have to confess I laughed when the water, to the shock of the muslims, went right into the mosque). Anyways, the water eventually ran out and the armored truck left the scene, at which point the muslims came out really angry. Maybe too angry, because they threw stones at some Kenyan passersby.

Big mistake.

A Kenyan (non muslim) crowd immediately gathered ....many times larger than the muslim crowd, and started throwing stones AT the muslims! The cops let it happened, and would even stand a few feet away. Obviously the muslims got more enraged and threw more stones, attracting even more civilians to come and throw stones back at them. This went on for quite some time ....it started at around 130 and I left the building at 5 and there was still some problems.

Anyways, I think if the muslims were to try some terror event in Kenya, they would definitely be crushed. Not by the cops or military, but by angry non muslim Kenyans who greatly outnumber them.

If we can declare war on a country, why can’t we declare war on an organization? Then anybody affiliating themselves with organization becomes a legitimate target of war.

IOW, we could attack a Hamas or Hezbollah rally just as we would a Nazi military force.

So why not? Where is it written war can only be waged on a nation-state?

They’ve certainly declared war on us.

Kenya just needs to relax its capital punishment law. Why spend money keeping this guy in jail or exporting him.

Possibly the best thing that could happen in Kenya.

“If we can declare war on a country, why can’t we declare war on an organization? Then anybody affiliating themselves with organization becomes a legitimate target of war.”

The link below explains that we already have a law in place for what you suggest: war on Al Qaeda and terrorists who have declared war on us. The law provides the legal basis for US drone strikes and covert action in numerous countries on which we have not declared war. Humanitarian values and international and US law require minimizing civilian casualties.
