We've won already....by putting them into the position they are in right now is a win. Just being a horse race and sucking up resources is a win. Putting the fear of God in those who remain is a win. Him actually winning is icing on the cake. The shot heard around the world has already been fired...you're just seeing the scrambling...

If he tries that sort of thing, their will be a coup. If you act like you run A Banana Republic you find that you are in a Banana Republic and get treated like it.

It would be a very bad thing if O’Bummer keeps up with the insanity.

Constitution doesn’t figure in. They would be violating long standing senate rules. Rules that they can change when they want.

I want the win more than ever.
I am now convinced Scott Brown is a GOOD man who deserves to win.
He’s worked hard.
Martha is completely unqualifed.

They have threatened this before. But that which can be passed by 51 votes can be repealed by 51 votes.

If the Dems start to think they may be the minority party in the Senate some day soon, they are going to try to preserve the filibuster rule not weaken it.

I understand.....I don't think they will go that route...It's a hail Mary pass if there ever was. I think they know what kind of wrath would await them if they did.

You would think they would see the wrath that awaits them with the present situation.

uh..if Brown wins, I have news for you guys. This thing dies, no matter what. What the heck makes you think they’ll have even 51 votes after a result like that? I think it becomes an “every man for himself” moment.

I think you're right. Dems can read the writing on the wall when it says, "you're going to be voted OUT"...

I understand and strongly agree. The fate of the country for the next year is riding on his shoulders.

“— Even if Democrats lose the special election to pick a new Massachusetts senator Tuesday, Congress may still pass health-care overhaul through a process called reconciliation, a top House Democrat said”

Fine.
Pass this bill by reconciliation, and we will REPEAL IT by reconciliation in 2012.
Easy.

Never discount blind ambition and self preservation.

Up until this administration, I would've agreed with you. But, so far, this Administration and this Congress have steadfastly proceeded directly against a wave of public revulsion.

Thus, I don't know that conventional political wisdom is still in force. In any event, though, virtually every Democrat in anything less than a center-left district will be committing seppukuif they vote for this monstrosity.

Why they would do so is beyond me.

Do the the rats have to name the conferees and someone could object? not sure how the process works.

Minority Leader McConnell and DeMint objected to the naming of conferees -- so there are none.

Thus, there will be no Conference Report. Instead, the House is considering the Senate bill. If they make any changes in it -- any at all -- it will have to go back to the Senate for re-approval.

If they make no changes and pass it intact, it's a done deal.

The union Cadillac health plan deal, the Nelson and Landrieu deals, forced to buy health insurance, GM, the banks...

Here's another one, you may not have known about...

To be sure, not all seniors would share in these cuts. Florida seniors — at least those in Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties — wouldn’t be subject to them. The “Gator Aid” deal that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid struck with Florida Senator Bill Nelson would allow South Floridians to continue enjoying the same Medicare Advantage benefits they enjoy today. Seniors in eleven other counties would also be shielded from the cuts.

=<"http://www.weeklystandard.com/blogs/coakley-offers-seniors-no-advantage"> Coakley offers seniors no advantage

In other words, if you live in Fort Lauderdale, FL, you can keep your Medicare Advantage policy and enjoy full benefits. But, if you live in Naples, FL, you're going to lose about $2100 per year in benefits.

Courtesy of Majority Leader Sen. Harry Reid and Sen. Bill Nelson (D-FL).

The idea that all of these people will fall on their swords for this bill is crazy. Many of them tolled for years and years on local Bds of Ed, city council, and statehouses before earning a trip to Congress.

I agree that they're all self-serving pols, but up until very recently they've been in lockstep. Maybe they've all been invited to the WH for some of Barry's special *stash* (the dems have gotta be smokin' sumthin'), maybe they all will get special sweetheart deals. I don't know.

The one thing I do know though is that it only takes one Rino or one dem to screw things up, and I'm not betting on this horse race.

they make any changes in it -- any at all -- it will have to go back to the Senate for re-approval.

That's why they have been using a process the MSM is calling "ping ponging." They pass the changes back and forth between the House and Senate leaders. This way, they can still call it reconciliation and get the Parliamentarian to rule that it is reconciliation requiring only a majority vote.

I'm not sure what rule allows this to happen.

What I can’t understand is how the Jew’s can back this nonsense..they by and large are employers....and then Joe Lieberman getting slapped around like a step child by the Democratic party. Watching all of this I guess I now understand why they by and large climbed on the trains for the Nazi’s without much opposition.

I think they’ve been in lockstep because they honestly believed that they’ll get more grief if they don’t pass it.

A win by Brown will demonstrate quite the opposite, in terms even these serpents can figure out.
